30 Days from CC, Wow Good, so is that middle or end of Sept for us?

It is likely that the case file is still in transit from the National Visa Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In general, the transmission of an approved petition from NVC to the Consulate can take four months or longer. Please contact NVC via email at NVCInquiry@state.gov to see if your case is under review. Other ways to contact NVC can be found http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html.

FINALLY!! I got the magic "ISSUED" today!! It took 29 days since interview approved!!

And 8/21 is my original interview date, I think they make some mistake so I can't get issued until original interview date. ANYWAY! I'm so happy!!! Good luck to all.

I believe it's not unusual for the CC email to take a week. Only our NVC overlords know why that makes sense.

Did you already call and confirm CC over the phone? If so, I'd just wait.

Quick question: since it seems like it's been taking a whilte to get the Green Card in the mail, if my wife would want to get her driver's license how would she show permanent residence status? Will the I-551 stamp suffice? I can't seem to find information on this. Thanks

Yup, sure will. It's valid as a temporary green card for up to one year, which is plenty of time for the 2 year GC to arrive (we hope ).

It depends on the state. Check your state's DMV website for requirements and contact them if you're not sure. In theory the visa stamp is proof of legal permanent residency status but the people at your DMV office will probably not know that. I believe a lot of states now require a SSN card so you may need to wait for one of those to be mailed anyway. Again, check your state's DMV site for DL application requirements.

I don't know what happened to american bureaucracy. Everything has become a complete nightmare due to undefined and questionable security concerns. I'm pretty sure there is no way anyone now immigrating without a SSN will be able to meet their state's legal requirement to obtain a local DL within N days of establishing domicile.

How does the I-551 stamp work? They automaticaly give it to her upon entry? Is there another stamp or something else in the passport? Is an I-94 involved, or is that only for non-permanent residents? I was trying to look for a VJ guide on this topic (specifically entering at a POE) but couldn't find one. Any links you could provide?
