Whoever sponsors you is legally bound to financially support you, if needed, until you naturalize, give up GC, work steadily for 10 years, or die. Why should the US government care as long as the signature is there? Still, showing a close relationship could avoid the doubt of fraud.

I'm amazed your friend/cousin took this financial bullet for you. You should be indebted for life to him/her. Personally, I would sooner adopt or marry someone before I sponsor their GC.

Best of luck to you during the interview.

Cupcake is correct, you can submit ROC as early as 90 days before the 2 year green card expires. Once you've submitted your paperwork you're basically in a grace period, so if the 2 year card expires but your ROC is pending in their system you're still ok.

Thank you @cupcake and @BOS_LHR okay so 2 months or so before the GC expired i have to submit ROC.. Do you guys know what papers or forms i should have and for how much? Do they have any interview as well? I mean how does the processing works? Thank you again sorry for asking to much..

My interview experience

Venue : Mumbai Consulate, India

Date/Time : 19 Aug 2014, 09:30 a.m.

Administrative staff asked for DS 260 confirmation page stamped by OFC (fingerprinting), PCC, Medical reports, Birth certificate photocopy and Marriage certificate photocopy, 2 US passport size photos and interview letter.

All the documents were re-verified by another Indian officer. He already had my file containing all papers sent from application of I-130 till the end. He returned my original birth and marriage certificates and provided a pamphlet for protection against Domestic violence and abuse for immigrant folks and suggested to read it while waiting for interview.

Finally after 1.5 hours of waiting, the immigration visa interview officer called me. She asked me to read a paper aloud declaring that all info I have submitted so far is true to my knowledge. Below are the list of questions she asked :

- Who is calling you to USA?

- Was it love marriage / arrange marriage?

- How did you know each other?

- Where your parents happy with the relationship?

- What does your husband do in USA?

- What do you work as in India?

- I see that you have traveled to USA on tourist visa, did you like it?

- Did you go through the pamphlet on act against domestic violence?

- Can you please give me an idea of what did you understand based on the pamphlet details?

she just explained that many people are afraid to raise voice against any kind of ill treatment they get from the petitioner, assuming that their

green card might be taken back. However, that is not the case. They have many provisions in such situation where you green card would hold good and government will help them to come out of such situations.

She also explained about payment of 165$ post getting visa in hand and before reaching USA.

Also, my tourist visa got cancelled since GC issued :). The interview lasted for about 5-7 mins and she did not ask for any documents at all,

absolutely none...!!!

Yes finally came those golden words "Your green card is approved, you will shortly receive a mail/sms from our end once the stamping is done to collect your passport. All the best and congratulations..!!"

I wish each of one you and your spouses all the very best for this journey. Yes, it has been a very long and frustrating journey indeed, but it will

be surely worthy for your special one. God bless you and all the very best. I would thank this forum for all the support and suggestions provided by

everyone.

08 Aug 2013 - Case accepted at USCIS
22 Feb 2014 - case transferred at NVC (post clearance and acceptance at USCIS)
18 Apr 2014 - Paid AOS fees
29 Apr 2014 - Paid IV fees
05 May 2014 - Filled DS 260 form
03 Jun 2014 - Submitted AOS and IV documents
