Are you catching the plane in Lisbon or Porto?

We leave Monday by train to Lisbon and we are staying at the hotel within the airport. So it's Lisbon :) I usually like to fly into Porto and leave from Lisbon. That way I see family in both places.

I am debating how should I send my stuff: mail them, rent a container or just take extra luggage.

What are you guys doing?

Between me and my husband, only one extra luggage is going (my American Express card pays for that...yay). And then everything else will go in the container, whenever they decide to send it. My husband has a lot of engineering books from his Masters program that he wants to take and they are too heavy for luggage. Plus we are shipping all his winter clothing.

This is exciting!! We are all going at almost the same time :)

You'll need interview letter, DS-260 confirmation sheet, passport, VAC appt letter and 1 passport photo (though I'd recommend 2). They will stamp

your DS-260 confirmation sheet

Thank you. Passport photos 2 by 2 or normal indian passport photo?

It typically only takes 1-2 days after interview to have visa in hand from the Sydney Consulate. However, due to the recent "computer glitch" our status on the CEAC did not move to Administrative Processing until 7-29 and it did not move to Issued until 7-31. They then must have sent it immediately after they updated the status to Issued.

We did buy the 3KG bag and that was Express Post that guarantees Next Business Day delivery to METRO areas. We used a friends address (thankfully!) because he fell in to the required postal code. Otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten in until Monday or Tuesday. I am SO glad that we did that because we had our interview before we even knew about the computer crash so we thought it would get there WELL before his flights tomorrow.

We literally made it JUST in the nick of time!

Wow!!!

So tight.

We are scheduled for Sept 2nd, but my husband's medical expires on Sept 12 and I have to exit Australia on Sept 9. So if the glitch is still happening, we would be in trouble.

Hopefully, the Consulate will give us an earlier interview.

Congratulations on being together again!

Hi Dharagomzi - it's usually between 4 to 6 weeks. PCOZ have theirs in 4 weeks. Ours was 4 weeks from Case Complete. But others were 6 weeks. They only interview on Tuesdays.

Sukie in NY

Hi Sukie,

We are going to try and get an earlier interview date, as my husband's medical expires on 9/12 and I need to exit Australia on 9/9. Too close for comfort if there are still visa glitches.

Do you know for sure that they only interview on Tuesdays?

Also, did you ever try and call the SYD Consulate?

Thanks,

pcoz

This is so exciting! You are finally going to travel with your husband! I wish you and him a happy happy happy life. And thanks for having been one of my "interview and -waiting for the visa to be printed- buddy". Same for you @sandraperry .

I wish all the best for everyone else. The visa journey is almost over and we can be proud it didn't turn us into crazy people (well at least not entirely! ;-) )

I also wanted to thank everyone for their help, moral support or for just sharing their stories (no no this is not my nobel price speech - but if I ever get one I would include VJ members haha).

SENDING GOOD VIBES TO EVERYONE. STAY OPTIMISTIC AND HAPPY! xxx

He is a US citizen, lived in the UK, now moved back to the US. I am French, we met in 2010 in the UK and got married in March 2013 in France.

I know this might sound unappreciative but this whole waiting between "Ready" to "Administrative Processing" to "Issued" and Visa in hand is driving me nuts. At no point during this process will they give you the satisfaction of instant results. This marks one week since the interview, and although it does feel like it was just yesterday, reading your Visa is issued and printed but not having it so far for 3 days after that is such a bummer! Let us get on with our lives!

So sorry for everyone who has been or still is waiting for the status to change to AP or Issued.
