Yeah, absolutely. My response was because OP put "a tourist" in quotations like that... I read that as insinuating there would be some premeditated plan to adjust rather than legitimately entering as a tourist. Plenty of people adjust status in the US for completely legal, valid reasons -- like people on student visas who fall in love and marry USCs, or in your case when the decision to stay together was made after entering the country.

But yeah, I thought that was a crummy question to ask during interview. What a punch in the gut.

My husband was asked instead, 'why didn't you file a K-1?' My husband looked at him funny and said 'because we got married'. He did ask why we went this route instead of adjusting status and my husband replied that we were under the understanding that doing so would have been illegal. That was enough for the CO.

Many times the CO ask questions like that to get the comfort level of the immigrant. Many are leaving countries and coming into a situation they may not want to. So its more of a do you klnow where you are going. Seeing nervousness, hestitation.

And some CO's just like to chat it up like its an old friend. I had a friend was up at wondow for over 2 hrs looking through the album telling CO about his 4 year courtship and every sinv\cle picture told a story.

But its all good. Congratulations.

I agree, I think the CO is trying to gage the comfort level of the interviewee. If my husband had stuttered when he asked what city and state he was moving to, I'm sure the interview would have gone way south way fast!

When we did POE, the person ahead of us also had a visa packet in his hand. He was staring at the CBP with the most awkward smile (it's hard to explain via text). Anyway, something looked amiss from where we were standing and I'm sure the CO felt the same! Anyway, he was told to go to Passport Control room and from there was escorted into secondary (the entire time we were getting the visa process we never saw that guy again). ANYWAY, my long-winded point is RELAX, you know you married in good faith, you have nothing to worry about :-)

Hi all. Finally got my Case Complete yesterday after 161 painful days at NVC and over 14 months since NOA.

Hoping I get an interview scheduled soon, as it appears I am just in time for October scheduling!

Congratulations! A very long wait! But it will be over soon! :D:dancing:

My wife's interview was today and she was approved! :dancing: The interview took 20 minutes and they asked 14 questions. Why? I don't know. But the worst is now over. Thanks everyone for all the help. We couldn't have done it without VJ. :)

CEAC still says Ready. Is that normal or should it be showing Administrative Processing?

CONGRATS WOHOO!!! :dancing:

Mine changed from ready to AP the following afternoon

I didn't type that to get anyone in a tizzy. It was really the most relaxing and uneventful 20 minutes of this entire process. my husband got his fingerprints done (Agent Zurcaw I believe?) and we chatted the entire time. I was cracking jokes left and right and it was a piece of cake! We weren't nervous at all and it showed.

The guy that was ahead of us looked like a nervous wreck and had a smile similar to that of a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Does anyone know if we can request expedite after case complete? and how long it takes? I just got into a car accident. this is the second car accident this year, both accident were other parties' fault. First wasn't bad so I didn't request expedite cause i thought it would be fair that we all wait together, but this time is bad, the other guy who hit me was drunk, no license, no insurance...now I have to go to court for this and it's in october. Now i'm super depressed and i haven't slept or eaten for two days... I was wondering if I can still request expedite so they can schedule interview as early as they can so my husband can be here with me.:cry::cry:

I think we were jet lagged which made us a bit giddy LOL

You'll be absolutely fine :-)

Which terminal are you landing in? They've changed the airport a bit since I last flew overseas. At Humphrey (Terminal 2), they didn't have 2 lines this time (1 for citizens/residents and 1 for visitors), everyone got into the same line. It's weird and it moves slower now, but my husband and I got to stand in line and go to the counter together.

the goal was to have POE in Minneapolis. not many airlines offer direct flights from Europe, Condor does and it's the cheapest.

green card based applies for immigrant visa is slower than USC applies for immigrant visa cause green card bases has to look up the priority date where USC doesn't have to I believe. USC cases is when they get CC, the NVC will directly forward to the embassy for interview scheduling, but green card based has to check the priority date to see if it's current. I think that's how it goes.

Thanks for pointing that out. A plausible explanation which applies to F2A applicants as well. I did notice in the spreadsheet that some (but not all) F2A interviews were scheduled a month after CC, while others followed the IR-1/CR-1 timeline.

21-MAR-2014 I-140 + PP sent to USCIS

If you got Case Complete what does it matter what the portal says.

Now you did get that verified word of case complete from NVC correct.

Who said Tuesday. probably should start tomorrow. Unless NVC starts going back to their old format of 1st or 2nd week of month we shall see.
