Hi Guys,

I need your help.

Recently my girlfriend received the ACRO police certificate that states NO LIFE TRACE.

I read the forum through and find out that some people advice - If the police certificate states "No Trace" or "No Live Trace", please be prepared to discuss your arrests/cautions/convictions with the consular officer on the day of the interview.

The problem is that my girlfriend has never been convicted or arrested and has no clue about this.

I just spent £45 pounds for this police certificate which is incomplete and does not give me the full information.

Could anyone please explain me what to do now?

Thank you...

No Live Trace means there is something on her record. Ask her if she ever got a caution. That is not what we in the US call a warning where a police officer tells you he's giving you a warning and sends you on your way. A caution in the UK is basically pleading guilty to an offense on the spot instead of going to court. In her case it was expunged and a check by an employer would not reveal her offense. The US wants to know all charges ever, even the hidden ones. She can request her complete record. Get a Subject Access Report from ACPO which should state the offense she was charged with. She will need this again down the line if she applies for US citizenship.

No Trace is a clean police record. Nothing to discuss. The website is off on that statement.
