It sounds like you sent in originals of your birth certificate and Marriage Certificate. There's no need for that. Just make copies and send those in. You'll need to hold on to the originals to bring in with you to your AOS interview!

Nope :)

Luckily those were just the copies - I'm holding on to the originals, because I have previously read that they request the originals later on in the process/interview.

Actually, they do not ask for the same things in the different packages. There are only a very few repeats (like you will need another G-325A, and additional photos.) You need to read the instructions, and do exactly what they say. So that means that you ned another G-325A for the I-485, even though you had one for the I-130.

So in the guide I posted, you have done the I-130 part, you need to do the I-485 part.

If your husband is dyslexic you could read the instructions to him aloud and you guys could work together :)

A Civil Surgeon may accept your verbal translation of the vaccines - or s/he may have international names for them. I would make the first appointment and see what the Civil Surgeon says. The medical exam is done in two appointments anyway, so you can start a dialogue with the actual person doing the exam.

And, if I may, for all of life, it is a good idea to make copies of anything you submit to the government or other official paperwork. That means immigration, taxes, etc. That's just basic best practices for paperwork.

Good luck.

Oh thank you, thank you and again thank you!!

You've been super helpful!

And Yes, I should have definitely made copies of everything. I guess by the end of July all I could think about was my visa expiring soon and I just sent all that I possibly could at the time (I-130) in a rush - panic.

Lucky for me though - I actually kept my first attempt at completing the G-325A (found it a few hrs ago) where I made a tiny mistake in writing the date at the bottom (the mm/dd/yyyy format is a new concept for me :P ) so I printed and started a new one. SO - I actually have a ''copy'' with the exact same information. Yay me!

Just ONE more thing and I do hope this is the last thing that puzzles me. With the I-130 packet both me and my hubby had to fill out the G-325A, and if I understand correctly, with the I-485 it's only me (the applicant/beneficiary) who has to send it in again?

Just as an aside, sending the I-130 did nothing for you in terms of being out of status when your visa expired. It's the I-485 that when accepted puts you in a period of authorized stay, the I-130 by itself does nothing.

Not that it matters, since you're filing as the spouse of a US citizen, but just for reference.

Good luck :)

Yeah, I actually knew that.

I just couldn't stand sitting idle if I already had everything gathered to send at least one packet. I figured it couldn't hurt and it made me feel like I was actually doing something.

The nerves got the best of me :)
