NVC Filers - August 2014

Just playing devil's advocate here, but will sending the IV packet before you receive your invoice really help resolve a case faster? It will probably just mean more IV packets for NVC to review and therefore a longer wait time. If the volume of IV packets the NVC gets are not controlled by the rate at which they issue the invoices, then I think those of us filing our IV packet can expect an even longer wait.

Not to discourage anyone from doing what they think is best for their case... just a thought.

I just finished talking with NVC, the lady Sandy said they are working on the June filers and they will resolve the problem soon. I asked her if I can send my IV package even if I do not have received yet my IV Invoice. She said yes and to put AOS cover on it

Just to give a head ups, when I asked a similar question I was told that yes you can send in the document with the AOS cover BUT!, if they then lose your documents its your own damn fault for using the 'wrong' cover sheet.

If were you I'd be careful, since the NVC likes to change her mind every step she takes.

Our journey so far:
May '13: Met at university in the Netherlands
25 Jun '13: Became an official couple!
28 Dec ’13: Proposed to her

12 Feb '14 Visited my wife for 12 days in Ohio (12 through 24 February). POE Chicago, harassment level very low.

24 Feb ’14: Got married in Ohio.
25 Mar ’14: I-130 sent to Chicago Lockbox.
27 Mar ’14: I-130 NOA1 (text & email)
04 Apr ’14: I-130 NOA1 (letter)
18 Jun '14: I-130 NOA2 (text & email)
26 Jun '14: Case received by NVC

10 Jul '14: Case# assigned (received along with the INN and BIN on the 15th via phone)
28 Jul '14 Received DS-261 & AOS Bill

29 Jul '14 Submitted DS-261 & paid AOS bill
02 Aug '14 AOS fee shows "Paid"

05 Aug '14 Sent AOS package

06 Aug '14 AOS package received (scanned) by NVC (eventually confirmed by Arthur on 07 Aug '14)

14 Aug '14 Visiting my Wife in Ohio for 64 days (Until October 17th). POE Philadelphia, harassment level low.

08 Sep '14 IV bill received & paid

10 Sep '14 IV shows up as paid, IV package sent

12 Sep '14 DS-260 submitted

20 Sep '14 IV package returned to me by the US postal service Great *sigh*

22 Sep '14 Re-sending IV package (Priority Mail 2-day Delivery)

24 Sep '14 IV package arrived (USPS tracking confirmed)

24 Sep '14 IV package received (scanned, 60 day email sent)

05 Oct '14 AOS package accepted (60 days after 06 Aug) Stupid NVC now reviews both packages together, using the last scandate.

23 Oct '14 Checklist received for AOS, missed a couple checkboxes and now I'll have to miss my wife an extra 2 months

05 Nov '14 AOS-Checklist scanned in

23 Dec '14 Case complete!

21 Jan '15 Medical
24 Feb '15 Interview -Approved! (issued as of 25 Feb '15)

27 Feb '15 Visa in hand, feels good.
07 Mar '15 POE at DTW, easy as pie.

17 Mar '15 Got my SS card in the mail --Elis still says 'Optimised' though

21 Apr '15 Got my Green Card in the mail!

--To do:--

07 Dec '16 File I-751 (Removal of Conditions)

07 Mar '18 File N-400 (Naturalization)

I was wondering the same thing. NVC decided to delay the IV fee invoice because they had too much work on their plate (according to them), right? :huh2:

But... some agents and supervisors are telling us it's okay to send the IV package with the AOS bar-coded cover letter? -_-

Maybe they think it's okay since they can still slow down the timeline for reviewing the DS-260 form? I talked to Supervisor Octavio on this issue. He told me that you may not get a CC faster even though you send your IV package with the AOS bar-coded cover letter since it still takes up to 30 business days (at the time I talked to him) for them to review the DS-260 form and you can't fill out the form unless you have paid the IV fee. <_<

However, the clear advantage of sending the IV package with the AOS bar-coded cover letter is if you get a checklist on the IV package, you won't wait another 60 calender days.

I didn't do this because I was afraid of NVC misplacing my original documents. It could take two months to replace one of the police certificates. However, if I had two sets of my original documents (or they can be replaced within weeks), I would have sent my IV package with the AOS bar-coded cover letter.

Hey all,

I got a checklist cover letter,i dont know what that means...It says to attach the given cover letter with the documents and send it..I dont know which documents are they talking about coz my AOS package has been send and reviewed on 6/23..It also says to submit the ds-261 which i have already submitted on 6/10..I dont know what this email is suppose to mean??Can somebody please help me or tell me please....

It's a false checklist. I got it when they reviewed and accepted my AOS documents. Don't re-submit the DS-261 or you'll reset the 60 day waiting time!

ETA: Oh, your AOS was already reviewed? Then it's probably a duplicate email. Their email server is a bit out of whack. I myself got another checklist asking to submit the DS-261 a week after the first one. Soon after my IV was unlocked, but not sure if the timing of the second checklist had anything to do with it.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Congrats on finally being able to pay your IV fee! I'm still waiting...

I am thinking of sending my IV documents with the AOS coversheet. Exactly what address is on the IV coversheet? Is it just Attn: CMR or Attn: CMR IV? I want to make sure I get it right. Thanks.

Thank you! Waited a whole two months for it. It just says attn:CMR no IV. But I would call them to confirm.

96 pages on the 7th day of the month, is that a new record? :jest:

Probably 30 pages is all about the 60 day e-mail

So if they find a mistake, im guessing another 60days for AOS review?

Well, if you do get a checklist, you won't know until they start reviewing packages on the date they received it. Who knows at the point if they will go faster with their processing times, or slower. I'm just hoping it speeds up for the sake of y'all.

We had two people with a checklist and their documents got reviewed in 1-3 weeks. They both had a lawyer. :star:

Maybe NVC can tell if we have a lawyer once they scan the bar-coded cover letter and put those documents in a different line?

Maybe lawyers write something like, "CHECKLIST DOCUMENT ATTACHED BY A LAWYER! REVIEW IT NOW OR I'LL SUE YOU!" on the bar-coded cover letter?

I don't think there is a lot of evidence here. There are 2 reported quicker than normal checklist reviews in a sea of slow ones, and at least one was EP.

I wish this was true. In my case it would actually be fair since it was either my attorney or the NVC that misplaced my checklisted 2013 tax documents.

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

I don't think that's true. It's just a theory someone thought of because people who had later scan dates for a checklist got case complete. I just think it depends what reviewer has who's file, and how quickly they're reviewing them and completing the case. Lawyers don't make a difference when it comes to the USCIS or NVC process, except they are billed the AOS and IV invoice at the same time..
