Timeline

Just got through to NVC for the first time (yes, I am taking the "wait for an email" approach) and only had to wait about 10 minutes to get connected. I didn't catch the name of the person I spoke with, but she was very nice and efficient. She seemed like she knew her stuff - very confident. I asked if my AOS package had arrived (was delivered yesterday according to FedEx) and she confirmed that they just received it. She also mentioned that my DS-261 had not yet been reviewed (submitted it on 7/29). She said, "before I give you a time frame, I want you to know that we are very backed up and working extra hours to try and reduce this backup as quickly as possible". Call me crazy, but I actually beileve her. She seemed genuinely sorry and not defensive.

I also asked about sending in the civil documents - IV package. She told me, without hesitating, that I could send this in at any time and just use the AOS cover sheet. She informed me that everything but the passport copy had to be originals and suggested that the applicant bring a photo copy of the docs to the interview and request the originals back (by replacing them with the copies). She also said to make sure to make copies of everything before sending them. I'm leaning towards sending the IV package in before being invoiced and will continue to read other people's replies/experiences with this in the next week or so.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm on team NordicTim and trying to stay positive :)

I sent in my iv civil documents with the aos cover letter and they have been scanned. Just got and paid the invoice I say do it. They advised you to. I followed the advice and nothing g bad happened.

Umm, just got a duplicate email from NVC about the IV invoice. Weird xD

Submitted my DS-261 on June 5th and finally got the IV invoice today!! Such a long drag! But I'm happy it actually came.

I still can't pay the fee online though but I'm assuming it'll be available in a day or two.

Got twice too... but different address... 1st IV Invoice is my old address and 2nd IV Invoice is my new address.. still can pay online

IV invoice paid and IV package shipped today! I'll update my timeline and signature when I get home. Interestingly, my IV cover sheet told me to post it to CMR instead of DR, so I did. I thought CMR was for the AOS docs :P

I got the second e-mail yesterday too haha. Dumb. So glad things are moving along for folks with this IV stuff! I was able to make our payment today, too. Now if the Colombian military can just hurry up and laminate the U.S. $2500 card we had to pay for to send along with it, we can send the package. We were told that's the step they're on. Lamination. Okey dokey...

So, finally I have decided to fill out I864EZ after a lenghty debate with myself :)

I have re-written my place of residence instead of writing N/A in their and any other question that didn't apply to me, I wrote "N/A". I have tax transcripts from 2013, 2012, 2011 and also have employment verification letter. and Yes, I am aware of sending "AOS Bar-coded Cover Sheet" from the payment portal :) I will be mailing my AOS package this evening. Fingers crossed. :)

I just noticed that my accountant filed my taxes for 2013 as single. I got married abroad in December 2013. Unbelievable. How long am I looking at to amend this and get a new tax return? I'm about to flip a lid. AHHHHHHHH sooo stupid.

Also, can I still send in my AOS package with my single status 2013 tax return and hope to get it changed by time of the interview? Or should I wait to send my AOS package until I receive my amended tax return?

same situation..but at this point if you are at NVC stage, i wouldn't bother to file amended. I filed amended back in april, until now it's not done. and guess what?! IRS has backlog too.....that's what they told me when it was passed 12 weeks... cause normally it takes 8-12 weeks, then when it was 12 weeks, they sent me a letter stating they had too many returns need to process, so they had to extend the processing time to additional 45 days.. so another 6 weeks. and yet it hasn't been processed! :sleepy:

I mean I haven't heard any interviewer asked why your spouse filed as single if he was married. Because the SSN is not available, so a lot people got confused on this... even many accountants or CPAs have no ideas because they have never dealt with this situation.. I work at CPA firm, when I asked them about this, they didn't know till we read the instruction together and found out we could write NRA under SSN for foreign spouse...

That's my opinion only... but idk...
