NVC Filers - August 2014

Hi everybody and congrats to all the CC!!

I am preparing package IV and this is probably a stupid question but how long a birth certificate is valid? I have one from may 2013, that would be ok?

Also I am seriously considering to send the package before paying the fee. NVC received my case July 1st, case number July 14th, and AOS fee on August 20 :(

I don't know why It took so long for the AOS fee but I am so tired of this all entire process. I know a lot of people has been waiting longer than I at USCIS (me "only" 6 months) but this is so frustrating... Anyway, what cover sheet should I put on my IV package if I decide to send it before paying the fee?

Thank you so much to everybody!

Caroline

Birth certificate is valid until you die. I inserted in the AOS package the cover sheet bar and the receipt. Good luck!

I am unable to put my hatred towards this fact into words. It makes my blood boil when I see the unfairness in the situation. They made us wait soo soo fu****** long as Uscis!! Now Nvc is backlogged!! Our marriages are dangling by thread and just because we wanted to follow rules!!! When I think about it it makes me so angry. It's been one and a half year since I saw my husband and everyday when I wake up it kills me to think that it's gonna be so much longer still. Why why!!! Why would the govt do this to us.

I feel exactly the same!

Yes, you're missing the joint sponsor's proof of citizenship as well as their tax information. W2s =/= tax information. Tax information = 1040, W2s, 1099s, worksheets, schedules, etc. If possible, you may want to consider sending pay stubs from the joint sponsor as well.

Please read the first post.

Senior members may comment with more authority; however, if you mean that the birth certificate was issues last year, I believe they will want extra evidence since the birth certificate was issued after so much time had elapsed from the birth. You might want to get affidavits from elder relatives with personal knowledge of birth and send them as well to avoid a checklist.

Yes, tax transcripts, ordered from online, are the best form of tax information and is much preferred by NVC.

A driver's license proves nothing about citizenship. I have a US driver's license but am not a US citizen.

Have you not read the first post yet?

I did the same thing and it didn't set me back. Keep your confirmation and call NVC.

I did that and it set me back about 19 days...there may be a chance that NVC could set to the original date but not likely...they need a caution button on it warning if you click on the DS 261 it automatically restarts your time...no luck for you on that one I think...sorry to hear...

Don't listen to anything people at NVC tell you or anybody else. They received my case on Aug 6. When I called to get a case number, they told me to wait 30 days to get it. I respond back I DON'T THINK SO and hung up. I called back on 8/18 exactly 13 days since they received my case, I received my case # and identification #. And the Same day, I paid the AOS fee and did the DS261. On 8/21 my case was out of there and transferred to the Embassy. And 8/22 the DS260 was unlocked. May your journey be as quick as possible. If God is for you who can be against you

Hi my hubby is also in Haiti. How did you get your case out of there. I was successful getting through USCIS quick but NVC seems to be something else.

No, an I-864A isn't necessary from the joint sponsor's spouse.
