I just realized something and made me panic..

On my I-864 form, for the income I wrote the numbers without decimal points (i.e. 55,000 instead of 55,000.00) I did not put .00 anywhere.
Is this going to be a problem. Am I getting a checklist because of this?

I hate to say it, but this makes sense to me to review it all together, but to wait for the 60 days on the stupid last package is ridiculous! Why can't they just review when all of the paperwork is there.

So with this new process, I guess there is a benefit to sending the IV package before the IV fee. Get the 60 says started ASAP.

ARGHHH!!!!

Oh no, you're at a disadvantage actually; they start the 60 days count from the last package they scanned in. So even if you were to send one package earlier, If you sent in the second package before the 60 day review time...then your time will restart from the second package.

If that makes any sense :/

I did call them back and the other rep said they are changing over to that new policy for reviewing multiple packages but she said I shouldn't be concerned since mine had come in earlier. She said the policy change was in effect for the current packages they are receiving.

So it's kinda bad news for the people sending stuff in right now, then again you never know how and when NVC changes it's policies...but from what she said, going forward they will start your 60 day mark for the review from the date they get your last package in. So if you were to send one package a month late, your 60 day will start from the later date and you've pretty much wasted the first entire month. :( :(

Ok thank you so basically for the other people behind us are either screwed or will be better off. If they do this I wonder if they will change the payment to include all fees that way they can send everything off at the same time. Or do what is done now and send the IV with the AOS with same cover page. If not they are really screwed poor things and means we missed more delays for once. WOW this can be really horrible. :( They just do things without thinking it out.

That's interesting information-- I'm not sure it makes any sense though, the way they described it, because they claim not to know what packages have been sent in, so how will they know which is the last? In my case, for example, I am currently waiting on review of both the IV package and an AOS checklist. But if they were to checklist my on the IV (heaven forbid) I would then send in a response, possibly before they get to the AOS checklist, which is almost a month later? Or maybe they want to take the first two packages and then issue any necessary checklists? Seems like there are too many variables to explain it in such a cut-and-dried sort of way.

It'll be interesting to see how develops...

They're saying if they have two packages from you currently; then they will put both of them together and review it from the last package scanned date. So even if you sent the IV package a month in advance and the checklist a month later; they would both be reviews together starting the 60 day mark from the checklist you sent.

In their defense, this way they will eliminate false checklists and give an answer for all the packages together. Which works ideally; but God forbid if we were to get a checklist for IV, then we have basically wasted a whole first month for nothing.

Yes! Sadly :(

I asked the rep how this was fair, because people send in packages in advance so they can eliminate getting the checklist. She was like we aren't sure yet, but for now we're hoping to clear out the false checklist generation and also have less confusion amongst people. I was like yea, you will eliminate the false checklists but what about the real ones that get generated afterwards...and how people will have more delay to their case. She was like well, yea maybe that might be a downfall to it but we haven't really figured that part out yet.

The poor girl was so nice and calmly answering my questions, so I left it to that and I'm praying my package does gets reviewed timely and I can prevent a checklist delay inshAllah.

Don't panick, I don't think it really matters BUT if you think you've made a mistake, the best thing to do is call NVC. Call them and ask about the question and what number format do they want it in....so if you sent the forms recently, you can correct it and resend it. I don't recall how I wrote it but it should be alright I think.

I hope it will be fine, but how picky they are, it got me worried.

I'll call and see what they say about it.

Hmm...we haven't sent in our AOS package yet, and are still waiting for the IV fee to open up...probably in October at this rate. I guess we don't need to rush on the AOS stuff with the new policy.

Does anyone know why they split up the fees like that? It makes no sense to me why we can't just pay and submit once we have our case numbers. It seems so weird to space the fees and paperwork out by 60 days, especially if they're going to review everything together.

And I was really hoping to avoid another Canadian winter :(

This actually makes sense but instead of 60 days it should be like 2-3 weeks.

By reviewing everything at once they are cutting down on how many reviews they need to do so they should also decrease the wait time for review.

Imagine getting a checklist for AOS or IV which puts you another 60 days behind :|
