A job and housing are the two hardest things for us to prove, sadly, because hubby is here with me in Australia so all he can show right now is that he is LOOKING for work back in the States. Tough when it's 6 months til he leaves to go back to the USA (side note: reckon I'll be going with him? I know it's hard to tell with NVC but .. gosh I hope so!), it's very early but he has applied for jobs with both the Vermont and New Hampshire Superior and Supreme Courts.

Housing again is tough because his parents are putting us up, we'll crash at their place for a few nights then move into their other house, the front of which his mum runs her business from but the rest of it will be ours. So there obviously won't be a rental contract or anything since it's family. Would getting an affidavit from his parents to this effect help or should we just state that that is what is happening on our cover letter and say that we can obtain an affidavit if necessary/requested?

We have the visa from Australia that clearly outlines he can't stay more than 12 months. He only renewed his bar membership for Vermont in March, while he was in Australia, so you would think they would see that as a sign he intends to go back otherwise why pay the fees?

I think you should be fine. We also sent a small letter from my parents, saying that they would provide us a place to stay at their house, if need be. Not sure if that helps but we figured it wouldn't hurt.

I got another checklist after all this waiting. They asked again for a police clearance certificate which we already sent again from the local post office. What now? We have to get another one because they irresponsibly lost it?

i think it is a mistake. call NVC and verify. same thing happened to me few days ago.

So after talking to two different representatives I get two different answers.

I am not the consigner so I didn't know I didn't have to fill out the supplemental income. On my original checklist it doesn't say that I have to send in bank statements even though I filled out that part. Well I tell that to NVC and they say too bad that the previous checklist didn't show up.

So I tell them I don't want to include supplemental income what if in two months you send me a checklist demanding that I send in statements. The answers were mixed once said don't that part out another said put "n/a".

Then when I told them if I send statments it won't match my account now since that was 4 months ago they say well fill out a new form. Even though the rep said I didn't need to do a new form.

So I don't know what to do, I am afarid if I fill out a new form and don't fill out supplemental income I will get a checklist demanding statements from my previous form that I filled out.

Then I am afarid if I do fill out supplemental income I will still get a check list for a bogus reason because I'm sending out a new form.

It's beyond stupid I didn't know that part wasn't supposed to be filled out and I don't even meet poverty guidelines. That's why I have a cosinger.

To think if I didn't fill out that part a second time I would have had case complete and a interview in sept. Now I don't even think I will get one in Nov.

1 year at NVC at that point. Pathetic

I asked for a supervisor no supervisor available they told me. First time they hung up.

At the end of business day today, we received a false checklist for our IV documents. That means our AOS packet was approved! Receipt date 6/30, scan date 7/7. 34 business days from the scan date. Woohoo!

Congrats if u don't mind can I ask u on what basis u asked for expedite? And if u haven't send ur packages yet then hold on to them. U might be asked to take to the embassy directly.

It's just simple, I'm pregnant and I would love for my husband to be here with me while giving birth in December.

You don't know how lucky you are, so many have requested expedited for the very same thing and been rejected. Your is actually the first one I have known to be given for pregnancey since it's not considered an emergency so I think someone made a mistake. Pray they don't rectify it in the mean time. Congratulations I'm very happy for you and pray all goes smoothy from here on.

Then u r pretty lucky. Becasue pregnancy expedites usually don't get approved.

I have two sick parents I'm dealing with and they didn't expedite our case and my husband would help me tremendously but they just gave me the finger, twice. Still very happy for her but just don't understand their criteria.

Wow. I do not blame you for your frustration. That's total nonsense. I thought NVC only cared about income and not about assets? If you haven't already, I would contact congressmen, apply for expedite, call and ask for supervisor, ask if you can bring the checklisted item to the interview, etc. Do whatever you can to try to speed this up. So sorry you've been dealing with incompetent NVC for so long!

If you fill out the section on assets, then you need to provide proof of such assets. In the OP's case, since they were using a joint sponsor, they shouldn't have even filled out the assets section.

If you can provide proof of trying to find jobs, such as the applications he filled, that would be something as it's showing he's attempting to find a job.

As for housing, get a letter written up by his parents explaining what you wrote above. Have them both sign it and include that. Doesn't need to be notarized or anything.
