Sorry about the checklist..... Glad that you will be responding to the checklist this week...

By the way is your timeline correct? I see that the date you sent your AOS was July 14th. Is this correct because we all still believe NVC is working on the July 7th scan dates..... If your timeline is correct then its good news. NVC seems to be making some progress!!!

Hi,

my timeline is not 100% precise, i put dates approx based on my memory, and in general it is around +/- 4days vs. the actual date

Congrats :) if u don't mind can I ask u on what basis u asked for expedite? And if u haven't send ur packages yet then hold on to them. U might be asked to take to the embassy directly.

It's just simple, I'm pregnant and I would love for my husband to be here with me while giving birth in December.

Hello and congrats on your pregnancy! I was very pleased to read this since I just sent an expedite request for the same thing. I know it´s a long shot and totally depends on the embassy, but I figured it´s worth a try.

Do you mind telling me how many days they took to respond to your expedite request?

Doesn't matter whose information/signature is at the bottom, whether they're agent or not. Heck, there really doesn't even need to be that at the bottom since the cover letter in itself is completely optional. The important part of the cover letter (the whole point) is the list of what documents are being included. Everything else is just fluff really.

:thumbs:thank you Saylin.

Upadte: AOS submitted today.

I might be submitting my IV package this week :dancing: .

Hi,

So basically they are reviewing docs with july 14 scan dates. Mine was july 17 hoping to hear good news from them by next week. I hope they speed up and let other docs with previous scan dates be finished.

Just putting together "my" AOS package while we wait for parents-in-law to post us their stuff so we can send it back to the USA.. what a convoluted process! Anyway, just a quick question about re-establishing domicile for my husband. We have the following items for proof:

1. New Hampshire drivers licence, well and truly within date

2. Vermont Judiciary confirmation of continuing membership (Vermont Bar Membership Card) - also well within date, recently updated

3. Online statement printouts from retirement funds both based in USA

4. Copy of his Australian visa including conditions (ie it is for 12 months only)

Do you think we should get other things, such as contacting the County Clerk for voter registration proof or anything like that as well or will be we be okay with the above documents? Understand only general advice not legal advice can be given, thanks in advance :)

The things I used to show I MAINTAINED a U.S. domicile and our AOS package was approved:

1) Mexican Tourist Permit, showing I am only "living" here temporarily

2) My driver's license from the U.S. (current license and also the recently expired one too)

3) Voter registration card

4) Various credit card statements

5) Checking account statement

6) Student loan statement

Hope this helps! :)

Thank you, it took them 5 days to respond. I sent the request and I didn't have a case number. I received the case # on 8/18 and the same day I got an email saying the request is under reviewed. And yesterday 8/20 I got an email saying the embassy has accepted the expedite

Keep in mind, domicile really only comes into play at the interview. I don't think I've ever seen a checklist for "lacking" in domicile proof at NVC.

That's a good point. How many people report back being turned down at the interview for a lack of domicile proof, though?

Well, in Canada, it's not rare that people are put into AP to provide more proof of domicile. But, I don't know anything about other countries.

Well it depends which embassy, and how picky they are.. Not sure on Mexico. I've heard that Canada is a biggie on domicile. You're technically a tourist there though aren't you..:P Does your tourist visa have an expiration date too?

That's why I mentioned the "lacking" part, as I believe I've seen a checklist or two as well for people that didn't include ANYTHING.

My AOS was scanned July 7, and I still don't have any news. They are obviously working on a range of dates.
