So, finally made it here, still waiting for our package to arrive at NVC, but trying to get ahead of the game. One question: It seems I qualify for the I-864EZ VS the regular I-864. What is the difference and which one should I file instead?

I think if you filed a 1040 EZ and meet the 3 conditions to fill I-864 EZ, then you can do it, Saylin or anyone confirm this.

You don't have to have filed the 1040EZ to use the I-864EZ. Just meeting the three conditions listed on the I-864EZ will do.

ROC Timeline

04/06/2016 - Mailed I-751

04/07/2016 - NOA1

04/13/2016 - Check cashed

04/14/2016 - NOA1 hardcopy

05/04/2016 - Received biometric notice

05/16/2016 - Biometrics appointment

05/17/2017 - Approved

05/22/2017 - Card in Production

What tax return is filed makes no difference if you're eligible for the I-864EZ or not. It's only the three criteria stated in the form and instructions that determine if you're eligible.

And like I've said in my wiki, just because you are eligible, does NOT mean you need to use it. You just need to qualify if you want to use it. There's no requirement that if you qualify, you are required to use the I-864EZ. It's just an easier form option for those that qualify.

Can someone please address this?

It has already been discussed, both in this month's thread and last month's. I've also included a note about it in my wiki.

Some are for it, some don't suggest it. I'm in the latter camp.

Hi good morning to all,

This question pertains to cover letter for IV package. I am making copying right now what has been given as guided by our lovely Saylin and thank you for that Saylin. And I have this in mind, IV cover letter sample is beneficiary's signature and address but I appointed my spouse as my agent so what I understood is on the IV package, it will be signed by my spouse, the petitioner and the address and contact info would be my spouse's info. Kindly correct me and guide me please.

thank you all..esp. Saylin.

Doesn't matter whose information/signature is at the bottom, whether they're agent or not. Heck, there really doesn't even need to be that at the bottom since the cover letter in itself is completely optional. The important part of the cover letter (the whole point) is the list of what documents are being included. Everything else is just fluff really.

A quick question..i sent my aos last month ..my wife spoke to a rep and he said we can also send the iv package now writing attn:dr on it so my question is will this save time becoz iv invoice still not available..

We were told that documents could be sent at any time. So we did, using the same cover letter as before for the AOS package. Our IV fee had not been invoiced when we sent the IV package, but got it 2 days later. I don't really know if it does anything to help speed up the case. Mostly I just wanted to get the documents off my hands. And to feel like I was doing something... :D

Yet another friend of mine I met today and said why is it taking so long for u one of my friend went in 6 months. I said it must be a fiancé visa so she said yes they were married but didn't declare their marriage. I wanted to break something. Why is this process so freaking unfair!! I m so so angry right now. Only illegally can people go so quickly and they are happy. We are paying the price for following rules. I wish I wish I hadn't been so stuck up on this visa and had went on tourist or fiancé visa.

What they did was super risky. If that ever gets found out, it will invalidate the Green Card and result in a misrep ban.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. No change to AOS fee yet. Haven't called since Friday USA time on day 60. I was told a supervisor wasn't available and my case "definitely" would be reviewed this week.

I tried calling Tuesday and gave up when I couldn't get through for 20 minutes. Last night I was too tired to call. I will wait until Friday USA time to call again, then I will be at 67 days and hopefully then someone will let me speak to a supervisor if I don't have a case complete by then.

My job has been a god-send. Amazing what keeping busy during the day can do to forget about it for awhile.

Sorry to hear your arm has been so painful!

I will keep everyone posted if anything changes with me, but for right now I am just numb about it all and have no emotion. I just feel like there is nothing I can do. I even sent off letters to a congressman and a senator last week by email. Haven't even gotten an automated reply. Ever feel like you are completely invisible? That is me in this process right now. As I see case completes with scan dates 2 weeks LATER than mine, I cringe. I am happy for everyone of course, but it is just another reminder of how my file has been screwed yet again.

This week was my 14-month immiversary (and also marked 12 years that I have been living in Australia.) I have loved Australia my second home and even became a dual-citizen, but now it's time for me to go home.

Hi Amanda! I´m still waiting on a review of my Jun 25th scan package as well  I also plan to call tomorrow Friday at 7:00am, and I hope we both get some good news!
