Hi Everybody,

I have a problem concerning mailing addresses. I am the beneficiary and I live in Switzerland. My husband was living with me from August 2013 to August 2014, he was working in Switzerland. Before that he was working in the US and so he filled his tax return.

When we applied for the visa in december 2013, we use our mailing address in Switzerland. However, when he filled his tax return in April 2014, he use a mailing address in the US (his ex wife).

I am afraid that we will have a check list concerning the AOS package because of the addresses do not match. Also, he filled his tax return as single...we are now doing an amendment to change that... I was also wondering if in the amendment we should also change his address? Or should we leave the address in the US? Cause now he is in the US again to work, and he is looking for a house to live.

Thanks for your help cause I am desperate right now!

For anybody out there who needs to get a Singapore Police Certificate I can tell you I have had a really good experience. I was able to apply without the NVC Checklist just the Barcode Cover Sheet. They emailed me every step of the way. They said it would take a minimum of 15 days plus a week in the mail but it only took 10 days and it is already in the mail.

This is the only highlight in a horrendous week. I am in so much pain with the arm. I graduate from University next Tuesday. Yes, at 52 I am a mature student! Will have my arm in a sling and my husband won't be here. Still, children, my mum and sister will be so we will have a nice day.

I hope everybody has some good news next week. I am going to enjoy a quiet weekend with my children at home watching movies and eating ice cream.

Lots of love to you all.

So happy to hear something has gone smoothly for you with the Singapore police check. Congrats on your upcoming graduation, that is great!

Hope your arm is starting to heal. Have a wonderful weekend with your children.

We are still watching movies and "indoor camping" again tonight. They love it. We had a nice day today as I had a chance meeting with an old friend who was on her way to the park with her kids and she said if I wasn't busy to come along. We got a coffee and a good catch up and now I am back to my positive self. Looking forward to some good news next week. :)

How rude of her to have hang up on you, so very unprofessional.

Am so sorry Amanda, am really short of words, I don't even know what else to say about this NVC. All I can say is that I definitely believe next week is your week. You are specially in my prayers and I just can't wait for you to get done with this nightmare. Please just hang in there, I pray the Lord gives you the strength to sail thru. Big hugs

Thank you lovely. I will hang in there. I have turned my frown upside down and ready to go another round with good ol' NVC. They can't keep me there forever, this too shall pass.

I saw this quote and it is really true:

Today is (was) our anniversary. I am so sad and depressed. I really do want to die, I don't think I can take 5-6 more months of this. We are still so far (waiting for DS-261 to complete, not able to pay IV or do DS-260 yet). I am not sure that I can go on.

Please, please, please do not do anything rash. This is only a minor setback in the grand scheme of things. I am sure you love your wife and this is why it is so hard, so if you die you would hurt her and I am sure that is not what you want.

Get yourself some help PLEASE. This week there was a lot of media attention about Robin Williams and the disease of depression and if you are this depressed it's not something you can overcome alone. Please do not throw it all away because of a few months of separation when you have your whole life ahead of you with your true love.

EOC4ever, I sent a message to lagosiv@state.gov asking when Nigerian police certificate expires, and the reply from Lagos embassy was 1 year

Thank you for your inquiry.

The police certificates are valid for one year. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us again.

Hummm is the Police Certificate valid for only 3 months in Nigeria? Same for Egypt but the US Embassy told me via e-mail that they consider it valid for one year. You might want to e-mail the Embassy in Nigeria they will answer you in two to three days and I bet it's valid for a year. Good luck. :D
