I haven't heard anywhere that if you don't have a job lined up or a residence before the interview that it will affect their decision. I am happy with where we are at right now in the process. :)

I think it depends on the interviewer and consulate.

You might want to read http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/. It's mainly for Canadians having an interview at the Montreal Consulate, but you may find some info useful.

got our case number from very nice lady at NVC just after 13 calender days they received our case. Thought things were going smooth till I logged into NVC portal. They spelled wife's name wrong :ranting: Just emailed at NVCInquiry with passport copy and marriage certificate to fix the typo, and of course according to them its gonna be 60 days :(

I wonder how they review the packages. Maybe each reviewer just go the mail room and pull out some packages from the stack, maybe that's why some dates are been skipped.

I pray you hear something good this week. Fingers crossed for you, Amanda and Msc

Thank you EOC4ever, I need lots of fingers (and toes crossed)

Wow guys. The day has turned.

Just checked my email and Singapore Police Certificate is going to be sent out to me tomorrow. Should get UK original Birth Certificate by next week so can then send to NVC. Think I will just send docs and not apply to expedite and then wait two weeks to be turned down. Just going to get them off and wait for a CC. Could get a November interview.

Good to hear the documents are on their way. I hope it all goes quickly for you now.

Hope we both get good news!! :)

You have been waiting for very long as well. They have been processing checklists rather quicker as reported by others. So you may very well hear something very soon :)

Maybe some, but not all. My checklist scanned on 20th June, still waiting.

I got case complete this morning....well haven't called to confirm, but Paid changed to N/A, will call tonight to confirm...

I hope it is CC... :goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy:

Congratulations!!! Another one bites the dust!

Thank You!!!

I just called NVC and they confirmed it: CASE COMPLETE. :dancing::dancing:

I wish the same for everybody else waiting...

Congratulations!

Hi VJ friends. Tomorrow is day 60 since NVC received my checklist document. I am tired, stressed and anxious about it. I don’t know what to do. Every time I call they tell me to wait 60 days. What happens after that? I could ask for a supervisor review, but that will take 60 days? I am so frustrated. Every time we reach a deadline, they move it. Why have they skipped my file? They keep insisting they review in order received. I want to scream, I want to cry, I want to crawl into a hole. Sorry to be so negative, but I just need to vent.

On another note, I really am happy for those of you with good news, I just wish mine would come soon.

What is scan date? Is that the date when NVC receives packet from someone?

When the NVC receives a packet, it may not be immediately opened and acknowledged. I suspect the "scan date" refers to when they open the packet and scan the barcode to acknowledge what packet they have received. The "scan date" is the last date that the NVC officially acknowledged the last bit of mail (my updated AOS, in this case) that I sent. That was the date I was quoted as having to wait "30 business days" from. My 60-calendar-day wait date was on June 25 (the last date they actually received mail from). I got case complete before the 30-business-day wait and the 60-calendar-day wait were complete.

Others may be able to explain it better, but that's my general understanding of the "scan date".

WOW! I really feel like a million bucks! I just called and spoke with Gus, who is an excellent NVC agent and doesn't sound like a robot, and he confirmed that our AOS package has been approved with no checklists! This is a HUGE moment for us because I am the US citizen living abroad with my spouse, not working for the past 4 years, and we were somewhat worried about showing proof of U.S. domicile. I am so happy right now even though this isn't even a case complete. Thanks you to everyone for your help thus far in the process (especially Saylin, Duh haha). :D

Great news!!

i looked at your timeline and there was what bothers me for several days. Why just re-opening your DS261 without re-submitting it nulls the "days count"?

I mean, i can understand that re-submitting will require a review as new document was generated. But simple opening without saving or submitting..

i just do not get how it technically resets the timing.

yes, i am one of those, who likes to return to the submitted documents numerous times to make sure i did it right. :-) But anyway, i now stay away from checking my Ds261 ))))

Hey Guys,

Would love your opinion on something:

I'm currently prepping the AOS and IV packages to send together. We just discovered that we need an additional police certificate from UK since my husband lived there in 2001 - 2003.

The UK police check will take 3 weeks to arrive to us which would set us back.

Should we:

- Wait for the UK police check and send AOS and IV packages all at once?

OR

- Send AOS package now and wait for the additional police check to then send IV package separately?

The reason why we wanted to send both packages together is because mailing docs from Australia (I'm living abroad with my husband) is expensive!

Thanks for reading friends. This forums has been a God send!

You're in the right place :)

Thanks! I made a few mistakes and got a thread or two moved when I first joined so I'm trying to avoid further annoying people who are possibly going to help me, haha!

Basically my questions are as follows:

1. My father in law in the USA is a joint sponsor, as my husband currently lives here with me and does not yet have a job in the States (he doesn't go back til the end of February). He and his wife file jointly and their income alone more than satisfies the amount needed to be a joint sponsor. In this case, they should leave blank the assets section, is this correct?

2. My mother-in-law on her 864a still needs to enter an amount in her last 3 years tax returns, correct? At the moment she has just put "JNT RETURN" in there but I'm sure that's not correct (this is why she has sent it to us, to check over) and she needs to put in her income. Will it be her personal income amount or the amoint earned jointly?

3. A silly one - I know that the forms say to fill in postal address only if different, is this correct? Leave it blank if it is not different to residential address? I would hate to get a silly RFE for not filling in a section but also don't want to double up info and get one for that... !!

That's all I can think of right now, I know it seems like we are filling this stuff in SUPER early as we do not even have a case number yet, but we are going to have to get my parents-in-law to sign their forms and post them, plus their tax stuff, to us here in Australia in order to submit our packages so we want to make sure we're not wasting too much time in waiting for mail. :)

I am the beneficiary. My husband is the petitioning USC.

Yes, when you so much as click on where it says "completed" for the DS-261, it will reset your day count. I don't know why but that's just how it is. :(

I also like to return to the submitted documents and double check things but in this case, it didn't work to my advantage. haha

Timeline

I'm thinking positive for ya! I hope you get a CC tomorrow and make the cut-off date for Sept interviews! Fingers crossed! :star:
