i sent my papers today without paying the iv fee and pray to the GODS that they wont be lost and will simply be scanned as I was advised to do.. if anyone has done this please email me.. I will repost until I get some similar stories

Hahahaaa I just had to laugh, I sent an e-mail on, June 12, 2014 for my husbands change of address and I received an e-mail today stating that they changed it thank you very much. Don't you let anyone tell you NVC is backed up. WooooooooooooooHooooooooooo!

Oh and sorry, I should clarify, for those of you who obsessively study timelines and count business days, like me I don't have a lawyer, got help from a Senator's aide who demanded a supervisor review. Definitely lucky, and it is horrible that so many people have waited so long for a IV invoice.

Also, I am more than willing to share the email I sent to my Senator's office with anyone who is interested. I don't know for sure that it made a difference, but still happy to share if it would be useful to anyone.

Random email out of nowhere. On the line with NVC now. I dont know if that is 60 days or business days. My guess is business days, so it goes from 6 weeks to 12 weeks. I think it is more of a CYA email. I will report what I find out after I speak to a supervisor.

An AOS checklist will be different than an IV checklist. If you don't want to wait for the checklist, then use the respective bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal for the package.

So I just got this email:

Dear Sir/Madam,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 16-JUN-14.

We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents received.

We expect it will be at least 60 days from the date we received your mail before we complete the review of your documents. We will notify you when we review your documents.

We are working to reduce these processing times and we appreciate your patience.

But today when I called NVC the woman helping me told me they reviewed my AOS package (which is what arrived on June 16th) yesterday and we have a checklist that would be emailed to us today-ish. Blah.

I JUST GOT THE E-MAIL TOO!!! 60 DAYS!!!! Edit: My husband got it too. That's it, this is ridiculous. The second we make the IV payment we're changing our embassy back to Colombia. I can't believe we made the effort to change it to begin with. I'm sure changing back will screw us in some way, but there's no way we're going to sit around stuck in Argentina with no income until we get to the interview. No way in hell.

My guess is... they picked a date when "the wave" began and they are sending letters to all people past that date. My guess is that they are saying 60 business days to CYA, but will probably be resolved before that. It is extending their "window"...on the line with NVC now.

EDIT: They said 60 days total (non business). So I went from 26Aug2014 to 14 Sep2014. Waiting on a supervisor to "call me back" Hmmmm lets see how long that takes.

I just got a standard 60 day email as well just like everyone else. M pretty sure this is CYA at their end & to reduce number of phone calls they are receiving everyday.

I really wonder what's going on in NVC with the backlog stories. I think case files should be sent directly to the consulate and then the embassies will contact the beneficiary with list of documents to come along with to the interview.

Or on the other hand, NVC should issue AOS and IV at the same time so that AOS and IV documents can be reviewed at same time, they should stop issuing checklist, they should close the case and ask the beneficiary to bring the missing documents to the interview. I think this will safe them from this backlog and their workload will be reduced. Anyway its just my opinion.

It will be a great torture to wait for 60days for each documents to be reviewed.

It will be so jacked up if my husband is not here for the Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays. We have not seen each other since last July. This is some b.s right here.
