NVC Filers - August 2014

Thanks for your response Seanimo. I was using Saylin's instructions on NVC process where she mentioned that for co-sponsor we can use either i-864 or i864A. So I thought I should better use I864 now my only question is since my co-sponsor filed his taxes jointly, do I have to include his spouse on i864A?

That would be waaaay too complicated, and make the spreadsheet a mile long trying to explain each checklist. I suppose I could always add a note in each box (so when you hover over the checklist box, it'll pop up), but then I'd have to rely on people actually giving me a proper answer as to why they got a checklist. And if dates are any indication, it's just going to give me more of a headache than I already have.

You could try putting briefly in notes about what people forgot . For example, it could be like "left section 13 on page 6 blank," or "didn't include marriage cert in native language." You could leave out the complicated ones until you find a solution for it.

I think you misunderstood the wiki. Joint sponsors use the I-864. Really, only spouses of joint sponsors should be using the I-864A. And it doesn't matter if the joint sponsor filed taxes jointly or not, the spouse doesn't have to file an I-864A; it's up to them.

In either case, both the petitioner and joint sponsor would file their own I-864. If the joint sponsor's spouse decides to contribute, then they'll fill in an I-864A.

Yes, indeed I misunderstood the wiki.

So basically I-864A is optional for joint-sponsor's spouse. To be on the safe side, I will just have her fill that form.

I need to vent my husband in NY called NVC and he got through right away and the wait wasn't as long as before. Anyway, we got bad news!!!!!!!!! The rep said everything has been reviewed all is good, but there is an error on the AOS and we will be emailed a checklist with details this weekend. I can not express to you all how frustrated, angry and upset I am right now. We hired a lawyer and he reviewed everything. He even took his sweet time reviewing everything and said everything is all good. But that is not the case! What's the point spending money on a lawyer if he aint gonna do the job right!!!!! I cant stop crying :'(

Does anyone know how long more it will take for NVC to review checklist docs??? I cant bare another '60 days'.....

Sorry to hear you got a checklist. I'm curious to know what the error was on the AOS package.

It'll probably take another 60 calender days for NVC to review your checklist. However, some people (at least two) on this thread got reviewed their checklist documents in 1-3 weeks. They both had a lawyer. Since you have a lawyer, NVC might review your checklist document quickly. Fingers crossed! Well, it's also possible that NVC pulled out their checklist documents and processed faster for a training purpose. We don't know. It's an urban legend.

BTW, I also live in Vancouver (in BC, Canada, not WA, USA).

NVC will probably review our IV packages in a month. I hope NVC accepts our IV packages and get a CC soon!

I m so sorry to hear this. U have been waiting so long and u were stuck like us as well with Uscis. I feel ur pain. What was the checklist for? Lawyers are indeed useless. But maybe ur checklist gets reviewed faster hopefully like Austin Canada said.

Finally got some good news today. We got our case complete, after seeing AOS fee change from "Paid" to "N/A". Called to confirm. Our last scan date was July 1 (mail was received on June 26). It's a relief to be on our way out of the NVC.

Congratulations, your CC from last scan date is 37 calendar days, right? That's really nice.

i was able to complete the DS-261 before NVC sended the email to complete the form !! thanx to the VJ members that wrote that in this thread

AOS Fee was available August 7 and paid it ,and today it showed "Paid"

I sended the AOS package out August 8 and will be delivered monday morning !!
