NEED HELP & ADVICE

I didn't know that there was such a thing called Visa Journey. I am at the near end of acquiring my GC.

So the embassy reviews from Mumbai, India ask for the petitioner & benefitaries mother's maiden name. My husband accidentally wrote down their current last names which are different from maiden names. Luckily he had the copies which he had initially submitted to USCIS.

So my question is should we submit a new G 325 A form for both of us and type up a letter explaining the confusion or would it cause more problems to our case. Because we do not want to falsify or misinterpret any information.

If some of you can comment on it that will be great because my interview is next week.

I am expecting a checklist for IV civil documents. I have not sent the original birth certificate. My bad. Called NVC, then the operator said either original or a certified copy and said also, better wait to see untill the docs are reviewed. The NVC site says originbal document, but the operator says either original or certifiled one. Which one I should beleive? Do I need to really send the original/certified now or wait till they review it?

Appreciate for all the answers.

Kutty

I sent it on 31st July with AOS coversheet and is scanned today

wow, that was super fast, took only 5 days to scan.

This freaks me out.

My barcode cover sheet FOR the IV package documents said "Attn: CMR" on it for where to mail. So, I mailed them (the IV civil docs) Attn: CMR. I also noticed Saylin's example cover letter for hte IV docs used Attn: CMR. I mailed out IV documents on their own (not with an AOS package)

How screwed am I that it went to Attn CMR? This is a bit distressing in the current NVC environment. :(

hi. Even my IV package cover sheet said "Attn: CMR" and that's what I put on the envelope.

Guys how many days does Nvc take to scan the docs from the receive date now??

I see after 3rd week of July Nvc takes 2 days to scan the docs from the receive date.

In June Nvc took 4-5 days to scan the docs but now it is taking less days...

I see a light at the end of this dark tunnel...

hi, you have made a good observation. Going from my own experience, NVC had taken 13 days after receiving our case from USCIS to generate case number. So I thought it will take around13 days for our AOS and IV documents to be scanned in but I saw your post and Soloenta's timeline and I will call Monday to see if our documents have been scanned in. Husband had sent the documents on August 6 and they were delivered on August 8.

If some of you can comment on it that will be great because my interview is next week.

You may have to call them ask before sending it.you will get an RFE in case of any problem.

I have been worrying about this document thing all evening, and I called my husband and he assures me there is no other place to get these certificates. AND here's the quotes from the NVC website about the documents that are needed, and they all say you get them at the Civil Registry! So it seems like this must be a false checklist. I really hope so, otherwise I won't know what to do! I did send an email to the embassy just to see if they would respond any quicker than NVC is likely to!

Documents Birth Certificates

Available. Anyone may request a copy of a person's birth certificate at the Civil Registry (see address under "Police Record"). The request will be granted immediately if the subject's name, date and place of registration, and identity card number are provided. Failure to provide complete information will lead to delays. The immediately available birth certificate will not include the names of the parents. Certificates including full information are available, but take longer. There may be a fee for this service.

Marriage Certificates

Available. The Certificado de Matrimonio is available from the Civil Registry of the place where the marriage took place. Since 1885, only the civil ceremony has been legally effective to create a marriage, although religious ceremonies are often held as well. The certificate sets out the names and identity card numbers of the contracting parties, the place and date of the marriage, and bears the signature and seal of the Civil Registrar. At the time of the marriage, a booklet called the Family Book (Libreta de Familia) is issued and contains spaces to record the birth and deaths of children born to the couple, as well as the deaths of the contracting couple. Nevertheless, official certificates of marriage should be required rather than rely upon the Libreta de Familia. Divorce certificates in Chile do exist, therefore Divorce Decrees are also available at the Civil Registry. There may be a fee for this service.

Nice detective work :) I just got off the phone with NVC for the second time in 12 hours, and the call center agent told me the same thing as the lady last night. Basically that they haven't reviewed my IV packet yet (they're still working on June 20), so the checklist I received must be wrong and I should ignore it :bonk: . Since I don't trust anyone at this point, I asked to talk to a supervisor anyway and was transferred to Sue. She was very nice, and basically told me the same thing. Sooooo I guess I'll wait til next week to call again.

If you get some sort of response letter from the Embassy it might be worthwhile to include it with your IV documents... just an idea. Hopefully there won't actually be a problem with the certificates, and I was just unlucky with my rogue checklist.

Just mention it at the interview if they bring it up. No big deal.

Saylin, called again Gabriela said IV scanned July 24Th and AOS scanned June 25Th. 37.gif

Awesome. I'll add you on the spreadsheet later tonight once I get home from work.
