So after a 3-week delay in acknowledging receipt of our AOS package, I am still currently waiting for a biometrics appointment. From looking at timelines etc it seems that the average wait time for an appointment is ~1 week from the NOA, we're going on 2 weeks now and still nothing. I really do need to start working asap so I'm really disappointed by all these delays. I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the biometrics appointment is actually linked to the EAD/AP in any way, or whether the biometrics are just for the AOS? What I'm asking is- will the delay in being given a biometrics appointment also delay my EAD/AP approval?

When you do your biometrics doesn't matter. It is for the EAD in part, but doing it early won't speed it up. Approval takes 70-90 days.

Doing it later won't matter either, if you haven't done it by 90 days, they will approve the EAD anyway. Very rare, but possible.

You should wait 30 days for a bio appointment to arrive. Good luck.

Hi, we are on the same boat, I remember reading your post on waiting so long for your NOA1, same here.

No worries, it will get here :)

Hey Harpa, I think the biometrics does matter because I heard so many people told me that the picture they used on the EAD card was actually the picture taken during the biometrics!!!!

So I guess having a huge delay on biometrics does mean that it may delay the EAD production since they need that picture or what not :(

what Harpa meant, and we 100%agree, going for "EARLY" walk-in biometrics has NO bearing on the waiting period for the EAD and or combo card.

Oh I know it will get here, I was just worried as this is the second delay we've experienced in this process now and things have happened (like our apartment flooding) which means that the sooner I can get working, the sooner we can get back on our feet again.

THanks to everyone else for the input too :)

Sorry to hear that. Everything will be just OK, this is on temporary, for a very short period of time :) Good luck!

Oh yeah, I'd geared myself up for being a little bored and going a little stir crazy whilst waiting to start work, I just hadn't anticipated things being so tight with money due to things going wrong...I'd forgotten all about Murphy's law :P

Yes, they do use that photo for your EAD, but it can be approved without biometrics, and they will use the photo you sent to them (remember, you had to send 2 passport photos for the EAD application).

This is very rare, as I said, and only done when biometrics are delayed over 90 days.

Got you:)

Thanks for the information~~ I'm waiting for my EAD to get my DL. It is sooooo boring without being able to drive everywhere :(

Then start from this point, do not think about any bad thoughts lol. Murphy really haunts peeps :)

Oh I'm very happy believe me :) I just wanted to check whether the biometrics delay was delaying just my green card (which I can wait for) or my green card AND my EAD/AP (which would be nice to have sooner rather than later.)

I just like to know what to expect. I don't dwell :)

Yeah~~~me the same. I just need my EAD card to get my driver's license. BTW, I probably will look for jobs after the EAD card arrives. I wonder what type of work you do, my experience is that they want me to secure my EAD before we can proceed further. So I'm not even motivated to look again right now, just stay at home, work on my projects and read, good times, lol

And my husband is travelling for work a lot, all of our friends are working. I get really bored during weekdays, not to mention my current mobility is little to nothing

Seriously, I have lots of IT big freelance projects that I need to do that I already work on for more than a year, but still, this type of life style right now does not help me find motivation. Seriously, I sleep in everyday.

I wonder how you cope with it.
