Timeline

Hello, all -

My fiance (citizen of India) is awaiting his tourist visa so that we can spend time together with our various families that reside in the U.S. prior to submitting our K-1 petition for our (hopefully) 2015 wedding.

Because of his profession in biological sciences at a prestigious institution, his visa application has gone for further administrative processing. We know that this is common for others in his profession, and I have also worked with several students who have been subjected to this step in processing. Therefore, my question is this: if his application passes the administrative processing for his B1/B2 visa application, will it still be possible that his K-1 visa application goes through the same? Or will the clean record elicited from this round provide a solid foundation for his next application?

It will be so helpful to have a better idea of this so that we can estimate our timeline to the best of our ability! I would love to hear others' similar stories as well.

Thank you!
