I think they sometimes assign a new A number, but I'm not sure. When I filed for K1 for my spouse they assigned one A number. Then when I did the CR1 process we used that same A number on the application and it was approved with that number. Then when she received her visa, it was with a completely different number. You should call customer service to see if it's an error. I've heard of this happening to other people before, but I don't know if they fix it or leave it as is. If it is an error, they definitely should fix it.

The newer alien number is your alien number from now on. It happened to most of people AOS from non-immigrant visas. By the way, I got some concern 3 years ago too. Good luck.
