and i guess saving and getting our bank accounts back to where they were will have to wait cos i can just tell we're about to drop almost as much as we paid for the car to get it all fixed up again

argh argh argh

This is why I didn't want to buy a used car, yes it is certainly cheaper, but a lot of repairs...

we tried jumpstarting the battery some days ago but that didn't work. that's when we thought it might have been the starter. the other thing is we can't seem to remove the battery...it's like wedged in there.

toothy...i used my US credit card for the fairmont gift certs.

WCG (World's Cheapest Gringo, VJ gringo married to Ecuatoriana -- not the couple who visited us last week) was out of state when the alternator on the Wifemobile went out. He told her where to buy a used one, then spent Many hours on the phone coaching her on how to remove and replace it. He reported to me that she didn't know how to adjust the ratchet-wrench for off & on, & that several of the bolts were almost too hard for her to loosen. However, after the Many hours, the job was done, and he saved $Many, whee man.

I asked Mrs. T-B. what she would have done had she been Mrs. WCG. She said, "I would have kicked his [hindquarters] and told him that I was taking it to the repair shop. And when he got home, I would have kicked his [hindquarters] again," she man.

Oh, I am in a bit of a pickle. There is a class this fall that I want to take, but I can only take one a semester for this first year... I can take it and move my other class to the spring without an issue. However, I wasn't planning to be on campus this semester and haven't really prepared for the logistics that go with it - parking, student id, etc. not to mention that it starts a week earlier than the kiddo starts school. Normally, I'd just skip the first week (because I'm so responsible), but it is my major and my department head and my advisor who is teaching the class.

They might not offer this particular subject in this class again for several years.

Damn it.

Lol hillbilly is no mechanic thats for sure

What?? you mean to tell me that the engine hanging on a tree limb out in your front yard is for decoration only??

sorry...was off sulking/being grumpy.

it's an 03 dodge neon. we wanted to try the hammer thing which the auto zone guy recommended also but couldn't find the starter. just looked it up on youtube, looks like you gotta remove a bunch of other stuff over the starter, to get to it.

nothing really happens when we turn the key...the airconditioning comes on, the headlights come on, oh and the beeping noise that happens when the door is left open but the key is in the ignition.

The starter is easy. do it with patience. It's about 100 bucks on Amazon.
