I can relate. My mother had a break down and it developed into full blown paranoid schizophrenia. That's when my father left and us kids were stuck living in a house with a paranoid schizophrenic who refused to take her medication. She had better and worse time over the years, but she was never again the person she had been before the breakdown. In some ways, I always grieved for my mother who was never really there again, just this stranger who had taken over her body.

I'm sorry you know the burden :( My Dad tells me she was diagnosed before I was born, I haven't ever met her as she was before. I have no idea what her favourite music is, or her favourite colour. She can't cook, she has memory loss. She tried to attack me last night because she wanted Dad to turn the tv off, she was threatening to break the tv ( she's done this 3 times before with a sledgehammer) I had to physically restrain her when she lunged at me. I felt rage.

It's exhausting. I'm tired and ready to leave.

Dad is so used to it now, he's been doing this for 20 out of the 34 years they've been married. I feel worse for him because he lost his wife. I don't know what i'm greiving cos I've never had a mum. Just a woman who gave birth to me. It's hard to think about now that I am older and getting married and seeing my friends have kids, I remember when I was 4 years old wanting cuddles and she would tell me to go away. I'd shower myself and get dressed and walk to school with my older sister alone, we were 5 and 9 years old. Thinking of my own daughter going through that (if i do have a girl!) makes me feel sick and sorry. It makes me cry.

:(, ma'am.

Many thanks, TBone

Sweetwinks I'm so sorry. I can see why you're really wanting to embrace a new life. I hope you and your Mr have a wonderful life. At least you can be the mother you always wanted in your life. Do you get along well with your mother in law?

It is awfully difficult to combat emotions of leaving mum and dad here. I feel guilt for leaving Dad. He has my older sisters but one has moved with her family 5 hours away, and the other works a lot but she lives closer to them so she visits.

I'm very open to embracing my new life in PA with my hubby-to-be. His family have truly embraced me in the best way. His mum messaged me this morning telling me she had heard from Si what happened with my mum last night. She told me "Hang in there for a short time longer & you will be home sooner than u image! Your mother is very sick & there is nothing u can do to help her. Come home so we can plan your small wedding. I'll be here for u!"

I feel incredibly lucky. I It's overwhelming.have the best in-laws and the loveliest fiancé :)

Wow that truly is hard. At least I knew the person my mother was before that type of stuff started happening. And yes it could be truly exhausting dealing with someone like that. My brothers all left town, and I was the one that had to pick up the pieces and look after my mother. Funny thing is, while I was probably the closest to her before the break down, I was the furthest from her after the breakdown and I was the one who ended up being the caretaker. After her ovaries were taken out, due to cancer, her mental illness was not as bad. We'd been told that might happen only they referred to it as after menopause. It was still always there, but not bouncing off the walls stuff. Every once and while after that the person she was would come out. It was always nice to see that person again. I hope one day you might get a chance to see the person your mother was before her illness. And I totally understand the need to get away. I know I needed that at one point in my life also.

1. It's a problem only if it was Many pages vs. Many pages, see ma'am.

2. Mini-B. is young yet, but I was already reading basic stuff at not much of an older age. I worry some, and Mama T-B. is worrying more. All that one can hope is that their little impressionable minds are taking in what we feed them and that they'll surge ahead when the time comes, growth man.

Many. I explained to Mini-B. that algebra is the national language of Algeria, see ma'am.

Don't worry until she graduates to a size Many, no man.

I told her I'll trade her in for her sister if she hits size many. No, not really. She'd cut my balls off if I said that. You should have seen her reaction when I jokingly said when we move to the Philippines we can convert to Islam and she can have sister wives.:oops: she was not a happy camper with that joke. Its funny how women think its ok to joke about anything, but let a guy joke about something even close and..... <where's the all heII breaking loose emoticon when I need it?>

I love shopping on etsy! I ordered my wedding band off etsy - it was the only place who had a craftsman who makes knife edge wedding bands to match my engagement ring!

Wiggles has a switchblade built into her wedding and engagement rings.

I won't even deny it  I run around in 4" heels all day, my fiance doesn't like this because then I end up as tall as he is. Too bad for him!

My wife can stand on the step higher than I and still not be as tall as I am  She'd do just about anything to be a couple inches taller. Well except where heals because she never learned how to walk in them and is afraid she'd break an ankle trying to learn.
