How much can they do with 5 k over there?

Well, let's put it this way. A decent monthly income for a family of four is about 500$. Granted, you're not gonna be living in the lap of luxury, but it will definitely get you by.

5 grand?! what for?

A new car, so my younger BIL could make it a taxi and have income. As though finding a job on his own is too much to ask for.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Raise the monthly rate by another Many, and we have to start paying Many$ deductible to see a doctor. Then they raised the co pay once you meet that Many to see the darn doctors too. Bad enough the State has stopped giving them raises so our health insurance goes up and but pay hasn't budged in Many yrs.

Sure makes Canada more tempting
