You could pass the Mensa test with your eyes closed, si man. I think that one can also qualify for membership by virtue of GRE scores.

Understood re prodigy vs. early. Early = good, si wee man.

Wonderful that the lead investigators were so cooperative. Most are usually too busy to deal with hoi polloi.

lol. I qualify on IQ, apparently. It's in my old school records from High School, the last time I saw the IQ score.

That site was great. The first thing that caught my eye was gifted children and bullying. My God, it was like re-living my childhood.

I tried to tell my parents and my mom recently gave me a letter I wrote home from summer camp where I was explaining that older and bigger boys were assaulting me. I wanted to go home. It happened in school too, and what it did was turn me into a combat sports nut. I am training the kids in MMA, and they don't have to go as far as I did. I just want them to have the self-defense skills that are going to keep them from going through what happened to me.

I am talking about being ambushed - walking out of school with two older kids suddenly appearing on both sides of me, escorting me and driving me towards the jungle gym where so many kids were standing around that they had to climb up on the jungle gym to see better. To watch me being beaten up by a boy that was from another school! Middle school, many blocks away. Watching the whiz kid get taken down. You are told to try hard in school, raise your hand if you know the answer, and study hard. It gets you an older kid ambushing you to the cheers of the other kids. Not just once. Again and again. The bullying comes in a lot of other forms too, but the worst is teachers. Humiliating you in front of the class for knowing too much. Looking back, I can think of quite a few that did unforgivable things to me. I mean that go against the alleged ethics of being a teacher.

So thanks. There is good material here to help train for the bullying that is coming. It is a concern of ours. They have a program for kids, and I am more concerned about them than for me, so we are going to look over the kids section today and teach him about Mensa.

Do people really still get physically bullied for being smart? I'm pretty sure if anything people hated me for being an insufferable know it all.

Ultrasound today went well. Everything is where it should be and measuring a day ahead. We were just a little tiny bit early to get a heartbeat, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to book another appointment for a week or two or just wait for the 12 week NT scan.

I think bullying today is completely different, it is gone completely beyond bullying to out right terrorizing.

Yay for good news! I'd call the OB's and double check. I know mine will check for a heartbeat and then no other ultrasound till 20 weeks, 16-18 weeks if you see the Perinatologist

An example of that is blaming the victim: it is your fault a kid from another school who you have never met beat you up. See how insufferable you are? Another example would be putting down a 2% figure as not very exclusive. That one is called "minimizing".

They will be even more ready for that kind of bullying.

I don't think of it as 2%, but I had thought the cut off for IQ scores was higher. I think, like it was for me knowing I was in the 0.1-1%, that that information can be damaging. I do think it hurts others knowing they aren't as intelligent, versus the other way around. I really did treat other people like they were just too stupid to exist.

Turns out a lot of those people were so much more successful than me in life.

Gosh, I don't really even remember bullying happening. It must have been, but I must have just been ignorant to it.

Since we are going at 12 weeks, I wonder if they'll do another ultrasound, though? Hmmm.
