Potentially, yes. Practically, no.

Do you wanna stay at that location permanently?

Do real estate represent a good investment there?

Look, Frenchy is here.....

I used my Discover black again...... lol

So, Tiffs brother is selling real estate in Malaysia.....nice enough kid.....

Now tiff wants to buy a flat in K.L......

4 hunnit bucks RM a square ft. By 1500 sf.....

So we can go live there for 3 weeks every 4 years?

Our so her sister can have a second home?

if it's in town, you should consider buying it at wholesale, bypassing the BIL,

and renting it out to expats who are there on 1 year contracts.

or not.

if'n it's a new development, stuff not built yet,

walk away.

Not necessarily but I also don't want to rent for the next 5 years and if things don't go as fast as I want them to for my 5 year plan of having a restaurant then i definitely want to have property rather then rental place...i have spent my life renting and do not want to do that anymore.

geez.

so I emailed realtors asking about rent to own options. It does seem like they do have that set up for people who have little or not credit and give them 3 years to build one so they can get a bank loan ? am I right ?

Ignore the fact that a lot of things would need to fall into place for me to do that but I wonder if that is something I could potentially do within say....a year or 6 months ?

Assuming you have no credit in the USA,

this setup is a boon-doggle.

Instead, seek out homes that are FSBO and offer seller-financing, but even then, be wary, is always a higher interest rate and usually the home needs some fixing first. Serious fixing, usually.

Can you live frugally for a year, amassing 30K in savings, whilst making credit history, then take another stab at purchasing a home with a regular mortgage? I suggest that, instead.

Best of luck with it.....

A restaurant costs a lot to start though. And returns are low.

thanks.

I know but we are probably thinking a different kind of restaurant. I am not looking into having an upscale place in NYC or a big city. I want a laid back place in Vermont and it really is not so much about the return on investment per se for me. The "restaurant"/bakery/catering would be something that makes me happy since I have had that idea in my mind for 20 years now lol It is about doing something I love.

Even a bakery in VT will not be cheap to start up. Unless you buy pre-existing.

That you can easily do....

Tiff says she choking a moon fest feast.......

yes is why i thought having a property and selling it at a later date would give me something so i can buy a place elsewhere...rather than throw money out of the window and have nothing. Sort of like a house to have more savings ? Anyways...it is all baby steps...right now there are other things to handle but i gotta re-focus sometimes and look at the bigger picture else i would go mad lol

Tiff says she choking a moon fest feast.......

good for her. I bet it will be good :)

Pardon my ignorance but is there something specific you wish each other on moon fest as in...if i say "happy moon fest" I won't sound like a complete idiot ?
