You both subconsciously can't stand to sleep next to your husbands, that's why.....

more like even after all these months, i'm still not used to the unfamiliar environment around me. i got spooked by the dark. random noises and shadows around our apartment are still keeping me awake at night thinking of things i never thought of when i was home in singapore.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

nutritional deficiencies can also cause sleeplessness and insomnia. I have found that the US diet is often so much composed of factory farmed produce and overly processed 'food' that many items really don't have the expected nutritional components that they do when grown in less commercialized areas. Many 'Americans' are deficient in basic minerals such as Magnesium and potassium, both of which can cause sleep disorders when deficient. A lot of supplements are made of poor quality, poorly absorbed substances so even when you do take a supplement your body might not be able to use it. Once one part of your metabolism gets out of order due to a nutritional deficiency, it is like the proverbial falling dominoes - it cascades into other areas and you end up metabolic dis-functions. It becomes even worse if you have some sort of a condition, like diabetes, that already impacts your metabolism.

You might want to try adding magnesium citrate (you can take it with a calcium citrate at the same time), and a tryptophan/seratonin precursor such as 5HTP at bedtime. If nervous restlessness is disturbing you, then you might also want to consider adding a neurotransmitter supplement like GABA.
