big rant:

just got home from grocery shopping at safeway. lady behind the deli counter was incredibly rude and insinuated we wouldn't be able to afford the ham we asked her to weigh. specifically, before agreeing to weigh it, she raised her eyebrow and said "these are really expensive" and after we nodded and said we knew how much they usually cost, she sighed loudly, rolled her eyes and said "i could do this all day..."

i know that her job is probably hard and tiring and she had a long day on her feet but there was no need for her to be so openly rude. hey, talk about me behind your back, sure, but if you do it to my face, you're asking for me to say something. and at first, i didn't. jonas and i walked away and filled our cart with other things, but it kept bugging me, so i said to him, i'm sorry but i have to go back to the deli and say something. jonas suggested i speak to her supervisor but i said no because i've worked retail before and i know management usually sucks, so i just wanted to talk to the lady and tell her i didn't appreciate how she spoke to us.

but, when i got there, she didn't even want to speak to me, asking her co-worker to go forward to help me instead, and then finally when i insisted on speaking to her, she met everything i said with "i have no idea what you're talking about." with this smug look on her face. i said, my husband *heard* you, i heard you. and she just shrugged and said, "no idea." and at one point, i said i've worked retail before so i know that shifts can be long and tiring and sometimes you have a bad day but - and she cut me off and said, "i've had a great day, what about you?" and finally she said, "we're busy here so do you need anything else?" of course there wasn't even one other person at the counter.

in happier news, jonas set up the spare TV in our bedroom so now we have AC + TV and i am not scheduled for any shifts at the retail job next week (and still waiting for background to clear for the children's home job) so i foresee a nice, cool, relaxing week ahead. :)

haha tell him to get strawberry next time :P

Strawberries are done here, I already made jam out of them. The grapes are out of our back yard, I think we are going to plant more. We have 3 vines that are doing great.

I wish the mosquito spraying would let up soon because I'd really like, for the sake of energy consciousness, to open my windows at night. They don't have a set time they spray, so unless you are sitting in a room and hear the truck coming enough in advance...

I hate that too, the worse part is we can be out for a walk and the truck goes by, you would think they would wait for you to go another direction but nope they drive right by.

Yep, they don't seem to care. Then they'll put out on facebook and facebook only that they are doing aerial/plane spraying one day. Do they specify a time? Nope, then you think of course it will be after dark and have to quickly run inside as they are doing a low spray over your house at 7pm. What, are you supposed to stay inside all day?

big rant: just got home from grocery shopping at safeway.

Complaining to the store manager is OK, but go straight to Corporate, via the on-line method (or, better, telephone). I did an on-line complaint against a cashieress at a local Aldi Foods, and not only did Corporate e-mail me within 24 hours, but they asked me to call them. I did, and I got a $Many gift voucher from them in the mail just today, $i and whee man.

I also got a phone call from the store itself, with the message "We'd like to handle this at the store level." Haven't followed up on that, not yet man.

mosquito spraying [...] hear the truck coming enough in advance...

The truck just went nearby, but I fear that they skipped our street again, sigh man. This means that the deported mosquitoes from every other street in town will clamor at our border for amnesty, bite me man...

he can roll over and sit on his own already that is pretty impressive

They grow up so fast... just tonight, Mrs. T-B. & I were reminiscing about how Mini-B. used to fall asleep only in his vibrating chair, and how he'd awaken at Many a.m. and we'd put him in his swing... tuti-pie...
