Leaving US to live with husband abroad..

I want to quit my job and go live with my husband abroad till he obtains his visa.

If I do my affidavit of support & iv - do I still have to show income after that?

Or should I just wait?

I just really hate my job and I don't want to quit in the middle of this process because I need to show income.

You will have to show income at the interview. So if you want to live abroad, you will probably need a co-sponsor. Good luck.

But we all do it because its our responsibility to be financially independent

and be able to support our families.

You are now 8 months into your processing, and you probably have shorter time remaining to finish.

Figure out why you hate your job?

Is it really the work? Or is it the people that you work with? Is it the salary? Or are you the problem?

To not risk and complicate the closure of your processing,

can you not find another job?

You can quit and leave your job to solve one headache,

but that will create another headache of coming up with co-sponsor

and also finding a future job when you both return to US.

So you are free to do what you want, but think through the penalties and consequences,

and see which is lesser pain to you.

Well my mom is helping us out because its going to be her, myself, and my husband in our home only. So I do have a co-sponsor. I just don't want to mess up because I decided to jump from one job to another.

I don't know how old you are, but do you think its fair for your mom to work her butt off

at older age than you just because you don't like your current work?

This is why I started to teach my kids to be financially independent early on,

and at the same time gave them the freedom to do what they want.

When parents continue to provide support, kids take that as entitlement

instead of using that as leverage to boost their career and life.

If your mom makes enough money to be your co-sponsor than I think you got that covered,

and no worries there.

But would you be happy if your daughter put the same burden on you like you are doing

to your mother? Think about that...you are about to start your own family.

You should really not jump to conclusions if you do not know what I am asking. I want to know if I can quit my job and move abroad until my husband comes after doing AOS/IV. Not to quit and live at home. I DID NOT know you need to show support at interview. Which was answered. Didn't need to know your irrelevant opinion. Thanks.

As long as your mother makes more than 125% of the poverty level for a family size of three you will be fine. You still need to submit an I-864 and tax return transcripts as will your mother. So you can quit and be with your husband and return with him after the visa is approved.
