Entry once Green Card is approved

Hey guys, hope you are all hanging in there. My hubby and I are still awaiting our NOA2, March filer at Nebraska. I have been reading about how long it takes to receive the GC and things aren't looking very rosy. How long do I have to enter the US once the GC has been issued? I am currently studying but strongly considering applying for a job in my home country but if I do that, I would like to commit myself to a year at the job so that it doesn't reflect negatively on my résumé. Having said that, I wouldn't want my GC to expire while working in my home country.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated!

You will not receive a green card until you arrive in the states. You will receive a visa and it is valid for 6 months after it is issued.
