Start I-129F petition from Germany?

Hi all,

as my US fiance is currently living with me in Germany and working on a US military base (NOT as a soldier but as a civilian) we were wondering if it is possible to start the visa process from here? He is planning to return to the US in September/October anyways, but if we could start the I-129F petition from here already by next month or so that would be great - the earlier you start it, the sooner it gets done?!

So is that possible? Or does he need to be in the US to send the original submission package? How would they know? If he sends mail from the military base here in Germany it gets shipped with UPS I think.

All advice and replies are appreciated! Thank you!

As long as you are sending all necessary documents, I don't see why that would matter.

You guys are entitled to meet, and it helps your evidence of on going relationship.

If you are totally worried, then send it to someone in US, and have them express mail it from US origination

but I don't see that being necessary all...(someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Or you could get married and file a DCF. Unless you wanted to file a I-129.

DCF would be much faster, but you HAVE to be married to file DCF.

And your fiance has to have been living in Germany for more than 6 months on a valid visa ie not tourist visa.

I am living in Belgium and my Moroccan fiance is living here with me. We recently filed the I-129F form from here. Actually we got our approval within a month, so it happened really quickly. Now we just need to figure out where to do the interview o_O

I don't think it matters where you are for the I-129F, as long as the form is filled out properly and they have a valid address to notify your fiance.

Thanks for your reply. So as a current/valid address did you put a Belgian address or one in the US?

Living in Hong Kong with my financee filed I-129F to the Texas lock box directly via DHL. No problem at all! Good luck!

Thats great news! What address did you put as a current address for your US fiancee? One in Hong Kong or one in the US (I suppose you will get married and live in the US right?)

Yes. I don't live in the US and no where on the I-129 does it require a US address, they simply ask for mailing addresses. I am a US citizen and that is what matters.

They do ask on pg 4 where you (the alien fiance) intends to live and where you live abroad but that's easy enough....

I am the USC living in Hong Kong with my Financee. I used my address in Hong Kong. The key is that at the time of the interview there must be proof of either domicile in the USA or proof of intent to establish domicile in the USA for the USC. Also the payment of the fee is a bit of a challenge as you'll need to pay in USDs

The payment was a bit of an issue...

No where in Belgium could I obtain a money order in USD.

Instead, I sent the package to a friend in the US, they inserted a check on my behalf and sent it to the service center for me.

I am pretty sure they have an American bank on the military base where he could get a check from. If not, we will do it the same way, that shouldn't be a problem! Thanks for the info.
