Anyone receive an RFE for submitting any of the required documents in blue ink instead of black, or for having a color other than white in the passport photo submitted? My fiancé sent me one of the forms filled out in blue ink instead of black, also where he is from they had a red background instead of white for their passport photos. Just wondering, I know I still have plenty of time to get a RFE, just wondering if I should expect one Thanks.

Black or blue should not matter but red passport background might.

Requirement is white or off white.

I have never heard of someone using a red background on a picture. Wow. I would have him send you new ones and as the above poster said, it has to be white or off white, no shadows, etc.

You will definitely get one for the passport photos. Red background is not acceptable. You need to get US-style passport photos on white background in the right size.

Blue ink is okay.

Saudi Arabia passport pictures are REQUIRED to be WHITE also.

Nevertheless, US wants white or off white only.

Should get that fixed to avoid delays.

For the pictures, you can just ask your fiance to have a new picture taken on a white background and send you a soft copy or photo file by email. You can print it yourself in a photo paper (or have it printed) according to the specified passport size (2" x 2"), in anticipation of a potential RFE.

This is what I did...I took it to CVS and they printed passport photos from my USB thumb drive.

Red background? I think white is more professional.. You should sent it now.. My fiancé sent our RFE response July 7, we still have no news until now.. Csc will approve noa2, 1 week after the response.. Tsc sucks..

Personally I like blue background. :-)

But its not about looking professional.

It's US passport picture requirement to be white or off white background.

I believe he got them done in India, that is where he is from. I didn't honestly search each countries guidelines. I just had him give me three when I was with him in Mumbai, and I submitted them. I guess honestly I was thinking that they would have rejected it from the start if I didn't have the completed package. Also I wondered on the ink because it said it either had to be typed or in black ink. But I appreciate all the feedback, thanks.

Me either and I don't know where he got them done. I'm pretty sure every country has a white background for passports.....guess I'll have time to get more.

Has anyone gotten an RFE for any issue with the passport pictures? Do you know of anyone who has? Just wondering....seems like most people got an RFE around 4 months, so they still have lots of time to send it.

There are some people that either don't know what they are doing or they are just scamming people. I remember way back when, when my mom and I became citizens, during the oath ceremony, the guy handing out the certs. sent us back to the main office because the guy who took my mom's picture for naturalization cert., took her picture while facing right instead of left. This was back when the pictures weren't front face. They are taking professional photos and they should know what the requirements are. If one goes to a photo business that takes "passport" photos, they should be aware of the requirements.

Now here's what you could do and some people have suggested as well. If he has a digital camera or even a smartphone with good quality and flash, he can have someone take the picture for him. He can stand in front of a white blanket or wall and make sure there are no shadows in the background or his face. It's easier than it sounds, trust me. I do my own passport photos and print them on my own printer. It not only saves me a trip to the pharmacy, but around $10 to $20 for the pictures.

The dept. of state website has a decent tool that allows you to crop the photo so that it's exactly 2x2. You can then take the usb and print it somewhere like staples, walgreens, or any other place that prints photos if you don't have your own printer or photo paper. It's much better than having him pay for more photos and on top of that ship them back to you. I will post a link to the tool.

My husband and I used blue ink instead to make distinctive from the rest of forms which was used black color for alphabets. In fact some members here got RFE because the adjudicator thought their letter intent of marry was a copy by using a black ink. We did not get RFE and got approved in 38 days. It was happened back in August 2013.
