UGH. I am so frustrated with the National Visa Center not giving responses on time.

I filed my documents more than 30 days ago (on June 11th) and have still not received any response. As of day 30 I called them and was told "we are running behind, call back in a few days." I called again today and was told "oh, your package wasn't received until June 26th so it hasn't been 30 business days."

I EMAILED MY PACKAGE ON THE 11TH! I have evidence of this! I don't care if you didn't enter it into your system for 2 weeks, that should be accounted for in you 30 business day (6 WEEK!) service level.

They just keep telling me to call back in a few days, but when I call they say there is nothing they can do. WHAT IS THE POINT OF CALLING THEN?!?!?!

This is mostly a vent. Anyone care to commiserate? I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I filed for my CR1 in April of 2013 and am still waiting. The whole process is supposed to take less than a year.

I know you are venting and not to defend their lack luster performance. When you send and it gets to NVC is of no matter.

That's the date some store clerk gets your package and in the mail room it will sit until that time it gets scanned into the system. Not until its scan does the clock start ticking. The latest reports people been saying is 30 to 45 business days. Sorry for your delays and hope this latest mess doesn't push you back further but NVC truly has little amount of people and way too many petitions.

They truly need to send up the Bat signal for help. :goofy:

I get what you are saying, but as far as I'm concerned those are all lazy excuses for why they are running so far behind.

1) No where in the documentation of service levels does it say that your package will have to be entered into the system and THEN start he 30 day clock. Further, they never give you feedback on when the case has been entered into the system so that leaves petitioners in the dark about when this mysterious 30 days would begin.

2) NVC states the service level themselves. If they are actually giving people a 45 day service level, then that's what should be communicated. The fact that they communicate 30 days and then cannot meet it is sloppy.

3) My documents were e-filed. The fact that it takes 2 weeks to record that an e-filed document has arrived is ridiculous. Join the 21st century and automate this process if you can't handle it in a timely manner with live staff.

4) When I talked to an agent in the call center JUST LAST WEEK she confirmed that my case was received on the 11th. They seem to give conflicting information whenever it suits them.

5) They keep telling me to call back, even though they acknowledge that calling back will do nothing. Clearly they have inefficient work processes that are keeping them from processing applications in a timely manner.

I know there is nothing I can do about it, but in my business if my support center was running this far outside of our own stated service level, heads would be rolling.

While I think everyone on VJ does appreciate your frustration and we have all felt it, nothing will be accomplished if you vent on here.

Your petitioner should be the one to start the process of writing and communicating to his government representatives at the House and Senate level and start the push that there needs to be reform at the immigration level. There is constant talk, and as is typical with our government, no action at all on this subject in particular it feels like.

This service (NVC) works for the people so they ARE accountable to our requests and demands, but going at them and yelling at them or on VJ isn't going to get any meaningful change.

I feel that the NVC is whoefully understaffed and overworked, especially lately with all the other immigration issues we are having and Obama et al trying to push people through.

Contact your Senators and Representatives, they are the ones that we need to ride to get some meaningful change implemented.

Well, the sad answer to your question is that there is no point whatsoever in calling NVC. All it does is make one frustrated, ticked off, and neurotic. Believe me, I am speaking from experience! I guess that's one of my beefs with VJ And all the guides.. everything says "start calling NVC all the time!!!!" .... when in reality it's futile. They will email you when they need something or to tell you the case is complete.

If you need the updates by phone, call them once a week. Nothing major will happen within a week's time.. trust me.

And just so I sound more human and not like a total a-hole... I feel your pain! I'm a Jan 2013 filer and still waiting for my interview date to be assigned. I can't tell you the incredible rage I have felt through this whole thing. But anyway I don't need to tell you.. because you're experiencing the same thing!

The whole thing just plain sucks.

USCIS

22 Jan 2013 -- packageSent
31 Jan 2013 -- NOA1 from NBC

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

NVC

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

22 Apr 2014 -- NVC received
16 May 2014 -- NVC case number assigned
24 May 2014 -- AoS and IV bills paid

I completely agree! I have no idea why so many things on VJ indicate you should phone. As far as I can tell there is absolutely no point in phoning to check in on the status of your application. What is blowing my mind is why the people at the NVC call center keep telling me to call back in a few days. They are clearly not able to handle their current call volume (hence the busy signals and long waits), yet they encourage me to call back every few days, just so they can tell me to call back again? What kind of terrible business process is that? Just tell me that you are running 15 days behind and that there is no point in calling back, at least I can have some peace for 15 days.

Wow, filed in Jan 2013 and still haven't completed? That hurts. I hope you get it soon!

I am also an April 2013 filer for a cr1. Ironic enough I sent in my AOS on June 11. Sit tight they are not doing anything. He did tell me they are booking interviews a month out. Today they are booking for Sept 2nd & 3rd. With any luck we will be home for Christmas. I am so pissed.

Calling the NVC all the time worked last year and the years previous, but hasn't been working this year. People are just getting more frustrated. I agree with calling less often.

Given the increased workloads of the USCIS service centers, it seems as though the load has started to pile up at NVC. I agree with NLR. What worked last year, and up to as recently as 6 months ago, won't work any more. We will likely see more and more of this until they take steps to break up the backlog, if they even do. I expect to have to wait another 5 months at least once I receive my NOA2, and if I get through sooner, it will feel more like a bonus.
