Why do online bullies (in public forums) never have anything nice to say - I thought bullies were only for the playground? Why do they find the need to always break a thread towards another direction or find any little thing one types to nit pick about? I’ve also noticed they never seem to share joy or happiness but get lots of pleasure picking on other members or questioning members responses. Misery loves company.

You got that right! But this board is alot like high school most of the time.

Since my fiance worked as a translator for the U.S. Marines in Iraq he picked up a lot of their "special" lingo.....it took me two months to pound into his head that "FU*K FACE" was NOT a term of endearment used in casual conversation.

I had to explain to my husband, who like rap music, that the "n" word is not a term used in polite conversation and that not all African-American people are rappers. An A-A friend who lives in Casa says this is a common misconception among the young.

Intellectually, my husband understands that the costs of things are higher here because our wages are higher. Yet, he still thinks that anything is available to everyone because he doesn't get inflation and cost/wage disparities.

Misery does love company but misery tends to find a hard time finding any company on here because most are good people just trying to get thru this process. Does make you wonder how their days go if all they can do is look for someone to tear apart? Pull up a chair and enjoy the ride , good luck

That’s something I don’t understand. Instead of participating in this forum to support one another, give advice or have a good laugh every once in while, I’ve noticed there is always that sourpuss that interrupts the thread and the thread is over - another mission accomplished. What a shame.

Good Luck to all those that are waiting to be with your loved one!

Best to just continue to enjoy yourself and others on here, say what you feel knowing not everyone will agree. THe more those few are ignored the less they will enjoy tearing others apart, kinda like takes the wind out of their sails so to speak.

Yes it was a very nice thread but the loser had to make it be about something silly. Misery loves company-correct. Take notice of the miserable here that started all this mess and continues to pick.

Kumar hasn't arrived yet, but he is a charter member of the Kathmandu Bus Surfers Club, so I think we may need to have a chat and I will need to tell him that in America everybody rides inside the bus, not on top of it...

Also, Dal bhat costs $8.00, not 45 cents. I sent him a menu from a local Nepali restaurant, he couldn't believe me.

Speaking from Germany to America

Food

* Don't need to bring bags with you to the grocery store.

* Make a list of things you love to eat/cook with - may not be available here. You will miss some things.

* Bread is much different (for the most part)

* Shopping carts don't require 1Euro to use

* Cheeses are much different (mostly swiss and chedar)

People

* While there is not an 'ampt' for everything, we're still not as 'free' as you would think

* Even if you've lived here your entire life - some Americans are hard to understand.

* Some people will try to take advantage of you if they think they can.

* If you're a soccer fan - Get Cable - (ask for Fox Soccer channel)

Driving/Cars

* Parking is usually free - like grocery stores, malls, etc (I know, not everywhere, but mostly)

* People do not get out of the left lane

* People drive incredibly huge cars

* Gas is cheaper and is by the gallon, not liter (4 liters/gallon)

* Radar detectors are legal in most states

* Car inspections are no where near as tough

* Drivers License doesn't cost nearly as much

Money

* Credit/Checking Cards accepted almost everywhere - cash/geld not required to have on hand

* Telephones are usually flat rate for local

* Prices usually do not include tax - you'll need to add it to know what the actual cost is.

* Most bills (utilities, etc) are monthly

* Renting a home/apartment is done with a contract - usually 6 or 12 months

Miscl.

* Things are open on Sunday

* TV has little nudity/foul-language, but lots of violence (pay tv not included)

* Beds (usually) are higher/taller off the ground

* Toilets are smaller (so I've been told)

Working

* Applying for a job does not require your life's history

* Not uncommon to work 45+ hours per week

* No government insurance - it's on you/your employer (excluding Medicare)

* Pay Day/Salary is usually paid weekly or every two weeks..monthly is not typical

Thats about it for now.. just my experience..does not apply to everyone am sure.
