K1 Visa - Mumbai Consulate, India Process Question

Hello All,

My file has finally reached the consulate and i had a question on the process. In the email it states, get your medical and PCC first and then schedule your interview appointment. I did not get the physical mail yet.

When I called them, the agent told me to schedule the interview first and then take the appointment letter to the medical and police.

So, what should I do; schedule the appointment or wait for the physical letter for more information?

Also, for whoever has had experience in this before, how long does it take for the physical letter to come?

Physical letter took one week after email for me. It came by speed post.

You should not wait for physical letter. It has same content as email. Just take 2-3 color print outs of email. That will serve the purpose.

You should apply for PCC through passport office first as that takes some time. Simultaneously, register and pay the fee on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ . Once you have paid fee, you can schedule two appointments 1) for fingerprinting at OFC 2) for visa interview at consulate. Carry these appointment letters for medical also. Call up medical center where you intend to undergo medical. They will ask for your case number, date of interview, name etc. then they will give you date of medical (must be at least one week before interview date).
