After the marriage, who is supposed to file the i-485, the immigrant or the US resident? I'm not sure it matters much, but for signing the cover letter for the I-485, which of us should it come from? As the US resident, for the K-1, the communication was through me, but is that still the case here, or am I now technically out of the process except for providing a letter of support?

Thanks a lot for the help here.

Have you read the guides and example forms? http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-485.pdf

Form I-485 is filled out and signed by, the K1 visa holder.

You as the USC petitioner, provide form I-864, the affidavit of support.

The immigrant is technically responsible for filing the I-485 (and the USC, the I-864.) In reality, depending on your spouse's proficiency in English, you may be involved in helping them complete it. And, the USC always has to be ready to be jump at USCIS' command (interviews, RFEs, etc.)

N-400

Feb. 12, 2016 - Sent N-400 to USCIS (3-year rule)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Mar. 14, 2016 - Biometrics

June 2, 2016 - Interview - Recommended for Approval

The I-485 (Adjustment of status) is an application of the intending immigrant. So technically all AOS forms will be filled-out with the immigrant's information, except (as you know) the I-864 (affidavit of support) for the sponsor.

I'm the beneficiary and I was the one who prepared all the papers related to I-485 and supporting documents. My husband only provided me I-864 and double checked everything in case there was something I missed out.

(organizer hat off)

The alien spouse applies for the Adjustment of Status (AOS) I-185, there is no need for the USC spouse to adjust status. Though the USC spouse needs to complete the I-864 Affidavit of Support.
