Hi all,

yesterday we got our interview, and I got also the I551 stamped on my passport, which will last for 1 year, and the

immigration officer told me that now I can start even working and that in 10 days at the most 30 days I will get my green card, anybody experienced the same? How does it work? In the meantime I should also go to the social security # office in order to tell them that now that I have the I 551 stamp on my passport they can delete the word "valid for work only with dhs authorization"?

Can anybody who exeprienced it tell me exactly how it works? I didnt ask that much because the immigration officers are always very silent/sealed about how everything works............I should get how they told me, the green card in the mail, or before the welcome letter or what?

Thanks alot for any reply!!!! I wish that all of you guys goes smoothly as it did to me. Good luck, we are in the same boat anyway!!!!!

The I-551 stamp means Green Card so your passport now is your green card until you get your actual Green Card.

Yes you can use the stamp to remove the restriction from your SS Card. Wait about 2 weeks before visiting the SSA office, that way their system has time to be updated.

You can work now, and the I-551 stamp also means that you are "work authorized"

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You are very lucky to have this so fast. Most people here are waiting forever.

My wife and I filed for AOS & EAD last May and just got our EAD approved yesterday after an INFOPASS appt.

As for green card, we are stuck in name check hell and are told to check back in another 6 months if we don't hear anything by then.

She is from Hong Kong, is a nurse, has a spotless record and is the most harmless person you could imagine. We never had any RFEs and even went to our AOS interview last August where we were told that she was approved pending the name check. We're still waiting and all the while she is becoming more depressed from the situation.
