I am asking this question, what do I do now, since it has been a long wait for me. I filed my AOS May 2006, I made a followup just recently, but it seemed my case isn't moving. My EAD will expire this June. As per policy, renewal of EAD should be filed 6 months before the expirationdate. And that means paying the fee again.

The last time I made a follow-up last Dec 22..I was told to wait for 45 days and if no update yet.. I have to call again..

No changes in my status when I check online, then in Portland's processing date, they are now processing as of July 2006.

:crying: what do i do now?

To rebelheart and jsnearline,

No, I didn't make an INFOPASS yet. What I did was called the Customer Service number they posted to call, if case is past the processing months.. and they gave me a confirmation number on my case..and I was told to wait and if 45 days has passed and no action..I should call again..

Thank you. I will make an INFOPASS, since there would be a day that I would be free of appointments. That would mean 3 hours travel..ok..

That the only thing that is lacking..I have my SSN, I got my driver's license, I got my EAD, I am into school, I will be working and celebrated my bday twice already since I got here..and yet no AOS yet...

Thank you again.

My wife and I filed for AOS and EAD in May of 2006 as well. They totally screwed up on her EAD and never sent us any notices on it. We had to make an INFOPASS appt. that we went to yesterday to straighten it out. They failed to send us any kind of notification for it and we ended up going to get her second biometrics yesterday after the INFOPASS and supposedly it will be on the way soon. They told us it would be good until August of this year and to reapply for extension 90 days before it expires, not 6 months before it expires.

As for the AOS, we had the interview in August of 2006 and they told us it was approved pending the FBI name check and we have not heard anything since. Our case was last touched in October according to the online case status website and when we inquired at the INFOPASS they told us it was still pending and that it could take anywhere from months to years and to check back in six months if we have not heard anything by then. Can you beleive that sh*t? 6 months! She is an RN from Hong Kong with not a speck of questionable activity in her life. I'm an honorably discharged veteran and I feel totally let down by my government.

i can't really agree on the USCIS's recommendation of filing for EAD's 6 months ahead, but then again I havent had any trouble. Our renewal EAD was approved in 94 days, and I would think this is pretty average. I would say it is safe to file 100-120 days prior to expiration, but thats just my opinion.

Dear Syhthetrix,

Good Morning! yes, we are in the same predicament and almost in the same timeline. I had my interview too last August, and after that it was just waiting and waiting. I am very patient though, but I think it is about time that I do actions. After August, I made a follow-up in September, Then October and december.. like you they say it about the security check.

If I check online, the last time they touched my case basing on the date was December 2, 2006..but the status is still the same.

Yesterday. I made an appointment for an INFOPASS for the 2nd of Feb. I would bring with me all copies of documents I sent them, in case they can't find my files. The portland Office and Missouri...both have my files, since we mailed those two offices copies of my files..with the thought one office didn't notify the other.

Oh, well, with other experiences on waiting long months and years for thier AOS, the USCIS should study more into it to make the processing swift, as I know it would lessen the load on them..and they made some service centers with fast processing now.

Maybe my dream job, would be working at USCIS, as I have been through all the process and that makes me sensitive and be emphatic of those filing for thier status.

have a nice weekend!

Thank you.. then I give myself 100-120 days still. It helps lessen the worry!

Best regards!
