Ture. In our country life is sacred up until the moment it is out of the womb. After that it is every man for himself and helping thy neighbor, let alone, love him or her, os frowned upon. I believe the Canadians made a point - that seriously when the communitty gets together something good can come out of it. I don't believe for a second they ever presumed to present a solution to the problem, so much they wanted to show that itt is really not too hard to make a difference. A message utterly lost on some.

The message of goodness, love and a clean heart has been lost to many Americans for a long time. It is unfortunate though as the moral decay continues.

So they are handing out water in gallon Jugs. Why aren't they piping it into their homes for free? Cause that is what this is all about. The people have access to water, just not piped into their home for free.

If those do gooders really cared. Take all that money you spent on Gas and bottled water and pay some folks water bill.

What will be a right next. electricity in your home for free.

It costs money to pipe water into homes. It's a luxury.

Where are the public standpipes? You are just being nonsensical and odious by trying to suggest this is not a fundamental right and requirement for both life and public health.

If you don't get water for washing, flushing the toilet and drinking piped to your home, exactly how are you proposing urban people obtain water? Catch it in rain tubs? Or are you saying they can go buy it in the store? You really do want the US to turn into slum world capital it would seem. Horrible opinion.

Well, we all know you don't even think citizens of the US have a right to life any longer and you'd quite like it if slums become a feature of US life so for sure you aren't going to be digging into your own pockets. Sneer at liberals all you like if it eases your conscience in some way.

Yes, individuals can pay the bill but that doesn't change the policy, it's a rotten and odious policy, turning off access to running water in he homes of people who are already in dire straights.

I didn't see anyone asking someone to spend their own money to fix these people's bills.

People are only suggesting our know nothing politicians come up with an alternative for these people until they can pay their bill. No one should go without clean water.

Exactly and i guarantee you most of these people had cell phones etc. the problem is Detroit had not pressed the issue for years, so word got out and folks just stopped paying. The water dept was owed more than 90 million in late payments. They started cutting folks water off. Guess what. 60% had it reconnected withing 24 hours and almost 100% within 48 hours.

Of course the media always seeks out one, one legged one ,eyed man with 5 kids who just lost his job, and there are those cases, however the vast majority just wanted more free water .

I read one of the advocates wanted to just raise taxes on everybody and make water in the home free. Such abject stupidity floors me .Spigots would be running 24/7

I give up. I can't stand the idea that anyone would argue that fresh running water isn't the minimum requirement for life for every US citizen and that any citizen, however lowly doesn't have the right to access it. Utterly barbaric and insensitive.
