The affidavit of support (I-134) doesn't need to be submitted until I-129F is approved,

and local (German) fiancee goes through K1 visa processing/interview.

If your petition is processed out of TSC, recently it has taken 5 to 7 months to approve

I-129F petitions for many.

As for you the application, you need to put whatever is accurate at the time of the filing.

Can he start looking for job now in US?

Thanks for the info. Yes he has already started to look for jobs in the US. So hopefully he will get one right away :)

Beware that your fiance cannot begin working right away after entering the U.S. !

Once he's there, and you guys got married, you will first have to file for AOS (Adjustment of Status, from "K-1 based visitor" to "Conditional Resident") and then eventually he will get his green card so he can work. That could take QUITE some time (between 6 and 12 months, roughly) so most people also file for EAD (Employment Authorization Document) and/or AP (Advanced Parole) at the same time as when filing for AOS.

The EAD document will usually be sent within 90 days or so, and that will also allow him to work.

Without either the GC or the EAD, he can't !

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I think there is a misunderstanding though. I am the foreign (German) fiance ;) My US fiance is currently living with me in Germany and he is going back in September to get the paperwork process started - thats why he is already looking for jobs for himself in the US. Buuuuuut... your answer is very much appreciated as it applies to me in the future - so good to know!!! :)

Yes I will be done with my Masters in February - hopefully soon afterwards I'll have my visa and I'll be good to go :)
