Been waiting 7 months for my police certificate

I had a bunch of criminal charges in the past. I was found not guilty so as far as I know I have no criminal record.

Has anybody heard of someone else having to wait this long for a police certificate from RCMP?

I haven't started my application for immigration cause I need to have this police certificate. It's been a good 7 months since I submitted my electronic fingerprints to RCMP.

oh boy, yikes, that's a long time to wait.

I'd be notifying them as to what is the delay.

also, be aware that a police certificate is only good for 12 months. if you haven't begun the process yet, your certificate might expire by the time you need it.

you have not indicated the which route you intend to follow (k1 or ir1/cr1) and each has their own timeline when police certificates need to be submitted. you might want to keep that in mind.

You guys can send the I-130 petition. It takes 4-8 months for that to be approved and the police certificate isn't needed until the NVC stage.

I would walk into an RCMP or Commissionaires office and inquire about a police certificate again. This should have been received a long time ago.

redo it!! Should not take anywhere near that amount of time....Usually completed on the spot, a day or two, week or 2 at the most.

Yeah I had mine done by my local police station and they had it ready for me to pick up in two days.

Ho boy. Which province are you in? You may need to request court searches as well. Depending on your jurisdiction - some are awesome and centralized (go Alberta) others you have to request from each individual courthouse/area. (Ontario....hiss). Most courthouses are decently prompt with this - a week or two is the longest I've had to wait...Alberta I could get same day.

But yes. Follow up with your RCMP/local detachment. Looks like someone forgot to run it or it got misplaced somewhere.

You may also go to your Member of Parliament's office and ask them if they can do a follow up for you with the RCMP to find out why there is a delay. I know at one time (quite a number of years ago now when I was still in Canada) fingerprint police checks did take a ridiculously long time. I don't know how long the process typically takes now but if you don't get any success approaching the RCMP, don't hesitate to ask your MP for assistance. He/she have staff specifically for this purpose. I know, because I used to be one of those staff:-) and did follow up requests for things like this all the time.

That sounds like way too long. The search (faster) we got in just a matter of 2 weeks. The more thorough search (we needed both---long story) took maybe 3 1/2 weeks. And this was just this year. 7 months is WAY too long. I bet it got lost somehow. I'd call them.
