Applying for F-1 while F2A is sitting at NVC

Hi,

To start with, my father petitioned me and got my case completed since March but with recent visa retrogression my dad doesn't really want to waste my time here and desperately want me to apply for F-1 because it seems like there will be a long wait for me to get to US and continue my school. He doesn't really want to me to waste a full year because this year is my last high school year and he really wants me to finish and graduate in US. If i have to wait here for my F2A visa then i'll not be able to finish high school in US in 2014-2015.

So there are some questions that i really need to understand :

1. Is it going to affect my immigrant visa ? ( I know there are less chance for me to get approve but it's worth a shot )

2. Do i have to contact with high school first and pay the tuition and then apply for the F-1 or i can apply for it then enroll in a school later ?

3. I'll live with my father over there...is that going to be alright ?

Thank

You will have to find a high school that will issue accept you as an international student. If you are doing this on your own you are probably talking a private school unless you are coming on an exchange program. The chances of getting an F1 are slim because you have obvious immigrant intent and probably small ties to your home country.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Talk to the International Admissions Officer at the School you are interested in attending, usually a lot of information is available on their web site.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
