Conversely there should be a sign: 'Please dress scantily. This is Hollywood Blvd.' Problem solved.

Reported for advocating nudity! Which, as we know is NOT family friendly .

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Nothing is wrong with the request. People can attempt to be a tad bit more mindful of others when they dress and go there or not. They can't enforce it.

Just like you can ask people please flush their s### down the toilet but you can't enforce it.

I don't agree that walking on the public streets requires one to be mindful of anyone's prejudices. They have a right to request whatever they like, I have a right to view the request as totally intrusive and inappropriate and ignore it. I am not required to collude with their idea of appropriate dress code, this is America.

I would write a message over the sign

What would your message say? Mine would say, 'your dress code suits you, but I look cra p in a sack'.

People can make requests all they want. You can't deny someone from making a request. If you don't agree with it you can ignore it like you are clearly stating you would.

I said they can make requests, they can put whatever signs they like up, I totally respect their right to have their opinion. What I am disputing is that the request is reasonable or that; anyone should be made to feel that, by not complying with the request, they are inherently disrespecting those living in the neighbourhood, they are not. If you want to buy into the idea that not complying with the request displays a form of disrespect you can. I don't. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to be offensive, I would just be my normal self and I would expect most people would. However, I reserve the right to make fun of the sign writers on VJ by thinking up alternate dress code signs of my own.

Where did I say this?

You didn't out and out say that exact phrase, what you said was 'if people want to be a tad more mindful'. That means, you believe that if people heed the sign they are showing respect for the people who made the sign. I don't believe it does for the reasons I have stated. Perhaps you didn't mean what you implied. I have no idea, I can only go by what you post.

That is IF, IF someone feel the need to do so they can. Just because you feel they shouldn't doesn't mean someone else will not feel the need to do so. You can't dictate how people will or will not act in this situation based off of what you would do.

People have the choice to comply or not and there is nothing you can do about it.
