When Do you Think Enough Evidence Is Enuff!!

This is just a spin off from crazi4christ's recent post.(I am sure Steve's name is on the birth certificate). I just want to know how others feel about the embassy & CO (Nigeria especially) asking for everything under the sun. When is enough enough! I mean a marriage is suppose to be sacrate bond between a man and a woman. I get really pissed when an outsider asks things that are none of any one's business. I have heard of CO's asking very personal, non-appropriate things such as the position your spouse enjoys in bed. There should be a line that the CO draws. Once all of the documentation has been proven valid why does the CO go there. Would the CO care if the married couple have sex and watch to see that it is a valid marriage?

Anyway, just wondering how others felt about when enough is enough!

Well, dear i have heard other couples make the same comments. Nigeria is a very hard embassy probably the hardest. I dont know but everyone always says make sure you are prepared. But then when your prepared ####### still happends. I dont know I dont really have a answer

Well i just think that the CO's don't ever think enuf is enuf. They just keep on prying. I do feel that it should be some type of rule as to what they can question and how to go about doing it. Like i said before, there should be limitations. Why is it that just the embassy in Nigeria does all these things to people. Maybe at some point I feel all of us must get together and fly there and just picket that damn place as American citizens waiting for our SO's to come here. Because each of you guys know that that embassy is very corrupt just like some of the "corrupt" people living there. What's even worst is the CO's are US citizens.

Something else I've noticed. Back home here in USA, when we file our petitons, everything goes smooth sailing and I haven't heard of anyone complaining of a denial here, however some people get RFE's for lil things they have overlooked. But for some reason, once it gets overseas to Nigeria and the interview, all types of B/S comes up. They need this or they need that. And then on top of that, they change the rules as they go along. Case in point...not allowing a k1 applicant to use a co-sponsor. Maybe Im wrong, but I have never seen that on the USCIS website. Besides I HAD to use a co-applicant and everything went just fine. Iyke's interview only lasted about 5 minutes.

I have a question. If those of you feel they are just being extra careful, well why is it that the "scammers" get thru so easy. And they play the USC like a deck of cards up until they get that GC and then many of those same scammers decide now, "I don't want you no more, b/c u did this or that to me"? And guess what? They don't even have to wait for the 10yr GC b/c they can just up and leave with the conditional one. If they was doing a "helluva" job overthere and so-called being really careful of who they let in, why is it that most of those same ones they have let in are now separated or divorced from that USC? Why didn't they catch it there? Or even more-so, why didnt the USC catch it themself?

Cassie: I dont think we can truly blame it all on the couples that have come before us. Why im saying that is because according to most people here that feel they have been scammed...they say they didn't see it coming. Everything seemed on the up and up. I personally blame it on the USC alone. I do that b/c somewhere down the line u must have known something wasn't clearly right. There had to have been signs and it just went un-noticed.

Karen: You my gurl and always will be!!! I take u like a sister. I have come to known many Nigerians thru my husband and we all have become even closer than ever. I go on outings with them even if my husband is away at work out of state and we are over at each other's house often. I have come to enjoy their company as they do mine. Not all are alike. These people have taught me so much and Im just as much into their culture as they are into mine. And I think that helps to make a stronger bind btw Iyke and myself. They have taught me so much and are like family to me. But I have to say this to you....I dont see Mr. Victor ever getting deported . If I was you, I would spend my time and energy on something else more rewarding. Let his a** stay here and you collect that child support. Getting deported b/c of claiming the marriage was not entered into good faith is a very very slim chance. That man will be in the USA!!! Besides, he didn't commit a felony that could deport or ban him from here. I know there are other factors, but the factors aren't enuf to get him deported. I don't know if he will ever become a Doctor, but expect the unexpected. It may take a few years but he will most likely become a Doctor here in the USA. If he belongs to a Nigerian organization, trust me...he has all their support and backings. And there are some powerful people in those organizations. I for one alone with my husband and kids belong to one of those organizations and it is a VERY VERY GOOD THING!!! Girl, its many of them here that are legal now, but have come here illegally and now have their own business and practices. I know of a few. And like Naija princess said...they came here under fake identities. Just thought I'd let u know that.

Just a lil something else I wanna say:

This may not be the topic to enter my post but I will say it anyway. For all of you that are bringing your SO here just remember that once they get here this is a whole different world to them. to make that transition easy try as much as you can to incorporate yourself into their culture. What I mean is become friends with their friends, spend time with other couples as your self. Im not saying to follow that person around like he/she is not trustworthy, but let he/she know that their culture does matter to you and you want to learn more of it.

Don't let him or her exclude you from any functions b/c you are not of that nationality or whatever. If your SO wants to join some type of organization, join it with him/her if that is permitted. Make yourself readily available and open up to ideas. Don't just trash everything they come up with. Make a firm stand in letting them know that you are their spouse and "WE" are one. And just remember at the same time, don't give up your own individuality. Allow him to be with you and your friends also.

All this can make for even a stronger bind between you and your SO. Just a lil advice!!!!

Anything they want is reasonable!!! Not when it infringes on the USC right as a tax paying upright citizen to be humiliated. Prying into the sacred part of one's marriage is not reasonable and does not uphold American belief in family values. I believe in justice that is what the American system is "suppose" to be about.

I am so sick of this embassy & that is why I am proposing a way for all USC to go to the Nigerian embassy and storm on them. I am sure it will get national attention to the fraudulent CO's there. Even if the country is known for fraud, I believe USC CO's should not go to that level! My thinking is that Sweete is with me in going, Can I get others? In numbers we can make a change!!! Even if your spouse or fiance is here, I beg of you to take action so that no one else has to suffer the way we have!!!! I agree with most of what you said except the role of USCIS and about the US citizen persuing that her ex is deported. I disagree with that advice because I think all scammers should be persued and eventually deported. I think most of these people can get away with their deeds is because the normal citizen ignore it. Now while doing that .........she should go on with her life but- by all means she should not give up. I don't care if he is a doctor in the USA. Anyone who goes up can be brought down. If she helped get him here here then in time she can get him deported. It will take time, patience, intelligence and knowledge but it can be done. If we were as committed to deporting those who we later find out were scammers as the scammers are committed to getting here........ the embassies would not have to do the irrational things that some of them do.

We can picket the embassy all we want but they will ask us what are we doing about the millions of scammers that did get through. As citizens we have responsibilities. We want the embassy to do their job but we don't do ours. I will be very happy to go and picket in Nigeria. Just let me know . I am all for it !! But we must show them that we too are interested as american citizens to help deal with the problem. Then and only then will we be respected and taken seriously. Count me in for the trip to go with signs but can we please help the government attack a real problem. Whether we agree with it or not the USA has one of the best government than most of the other coutries of the world. It is not perfect and yes there are scammers and thieves and cheater and money maker and self seekers here. But most Americans would rather deal with the issues here than the discomforts found in other countries.

Well I have a SO and I too pay taxes . But just because we pay taxes that does not mean that our fiance who is in another country cannot be questioned to the highest extent. They should be questioned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We pay our taxes for some of the benefits that we have here like roads and order and all the other conveniences that we take for granted- or do not avail ourselves too. Yes marriage is sacred but any sacred marriage is intimate. I would not like to have to answer those questions but I will answer them if that is required. When we learn and respect our own law and government then we can't be taken advantage of. We should not sound like "Victims" but "Victors". That is how we overcome. Dr. Martin Luther King one of the greatest civil rights speakers always spoke highly about America but he challenged both the government and the People to live up to their roles. We all remember what was said about the government but we never talk about what he said to each individual and to the people as a whole. Yes we should demand that the government do their part but we have duties too. We can't just make demands on the government because we pay taxes. Some of our taxes is our own retirement fund in the form of Social Security. And thank God the government takes it from most of us because we would not keep it in a bank until we are 65. Not most of us.

I feel for you and your situation - but I can't in a million years agree that "storming on them" would actually do anything but get you escorted off the premises. Perhaps a smarter approach would be to contact the director of American Citizens services at the embassy and see if you can get someone to listen to your complaints and provide you with some assistance.

Unfortunately, in their effort to prevent fraud, they are allowed to do whatever they feel is necessary to ensure that each applicant's relationship is bona fide.

p.s. I wouldn't advise posting your personal email on a forum open to the entire world, especially when you are proposing "storming on" the Nigerian embassy.

I understand where you coming from but AGAIN i tell u, trying to get that man deported is a waste of time. USCIS is not even gonna go looking for him even if he was out of status. They will not waste taxpayers money on that. Look, there are many foreigners here illegal, and they still here. Hell, I know of some that came here on visitor visas, overstayed, did contract marriage, worked under the table, hired an immigration attorney and now they have green cards. No one deported them when paperwork was filed. And no questions were asked. If you contact the fraud unit urself they will tell you that they don't really have the time or the manpower to go out looking for these people. Sometimes they tell u they are, but its just not true.

Us as USC think we know the whole thing, but in all actuality we dont. There are many things that the USCIS doesn't tell us. That same man, (VICTOR), have found a way to beat the system, just like most of the scammers have. Baby, they got it all down packed!!! Girl, these people scam, leave the USC, make false accusations about the USC, turn around get assistance from a strong organization who in turns hire them an immigration attorney and in some cases an Asylum attorney. If you feel that trying to get someone deported b/c they scam u, just let all that b/s go, b/c in the end u will spend so much money and probably will end up broke and that ex-spouse will still be here in good ole USA!!! Just let go and let GOD!!! He will get his due justice in time.

Like I said, I love Karen like she is my sister, but spending time and energy in trying to get that man deported is a waste and Im sure she can find something else to do that is more rewarding and less time-consuming. It seems that Nigeria has a bad reputation with immigration but I believe that the US Consulate has the right to ask for these things- they are essentially giving the beneficiary the right and privelage to come to the US so as heinous as it may seem they are doing what they think is right.

Also, if they have to do a DNA test for him to come here then I think that's good news it seems like. What is the problem with that? The child IS his, right?

WOW, I am a MENA girl and I have heard of fuard but i still wished that I knew how they got the numbers with the high fuard etc. Who tells them information or where do they get there information from. I have heard that most Nigerians do this but I have also heard of most Moroccans doing it. They deny a lot of cases in Morocco and I was told that when they do this and it is returned to the USCIS I hear that a lot of the petitions just die. The US citizen moves or or the Moroccan man. But I feel like this, when you deny a true union and these two people, in our case are muslim and it is not a natural nor is it encouraged for muslims to go a long time with your spouse. I know that we are trying but it is so hard. But I ws thinking, if i was getting paid and we got denied wouldn't I just call him and tell him and see if he wants to make up some information???? The USCIS will send me the letter right, well all i will do is just call the person and tell them and if it was really worth the money I would help him get it. This is what confusses me beucase I have heard of several faurd marriages and I want to know how to report it.

I am so upset and hurt by everything and confussed at the same time. I mean hearding this board I am starting to find some sympathy with the COs. (OF ALL THINGS. And I hate those people.) But I will say this maybe people need to be punished I see that the Couslar Corps and the USCIS have two different things going on. I do not think that the rude manner and the probing questions are necessary. I believe that the USC should have some say over the person they are bring over. Another is the culture I know a friend he went and married a Nigerian girl beucase he said he could not deal with the culutre differences of the American woman. I believe that Moroccans are a little better at this, but I know they do the same. It seems that becuase a relationship fails people seem to always go with the fuard. America does not have the same morals nor vaule system and when you think about it, people normally divorce after about 2 to 5 years.

I do not think that the US should make the country so applying and that they should not give some who came to the US the right to become a citizen if the SO was abused they shoudl go back to there country. I know that may seem hard but why did they come here, to be married not pursue other opportunities right???? It seems like they put two in the same. I asked my fiance what happens if we do not work out if he was here and he said that he wants to be married and if we are not together, he go back to easy life in Morocco. America he says sounds like a hard place and life in Africa is easy compared to here. Alot though we have a lot of money (debt) we are not that great and it seems that people are really abusing and using others to get what they want. I wonder what would happen if they did not get the citizenship or if they where more restricted. I also believe the USCIS should interview the petitioner and that we should be place under the microscope you know. I am not saying that someone with less should be treadted differently than some with more, but the motives of people should be place out there.

I am willing to do a lie detector test, I am willing to be interviewed and I am willing to give you a few tell all pics if this would get my guy her. However, if I ever in my mind thing that he is using me. I believe I would stop it right before it started.

It seems that the Immgration process places you in a different mode of thinking. It is a different kind of relationship. When you remove the visa and everything else what do you have????? I wished that people would not behave this way and I am not sure how to resolve the problem. But I will say this a lot of conseuling with the couples should be given and alot of support is needed. I also think they shoudl have the prison time just deal with if for two years and then you will get the green card. Because this is what it sounds like is going on. What I do not understand is why woudl America want these people to stay in the US if they are lairs, you know.

I think that more should be done at home. It seems like the approvals go through and people think they have a marriage.
