CR1 applying for N-400

My friend is about to apply for N-400 CR1 visa, she has a son CR2 now is the son need to apply for a separate N-400 form to obtain his citizenship? he's here at the US since 2010. thank you..

As long as the son is under 18 years of age at the time the mom naturalizes, then yes he will be able to become a citizen on the same day as his mom. He would be either able to apply for a US passport, or a certificate of citizenship which would reflect his citizenship retroactive to the day his mom naturalized.

Also I noticed you said CR1, was her removal of conditions ever approved or is it still pending? because it would have to be adjudicated before she can naturalized. I've seen others in this situation and the naturalization officer is able to adjudicated it before granting the citizenship.

Yes her removal was approved and been more than 2 years right now, sorry so it means she don't need to do aything about the son just wait until she gets approved then the son will be automatic citizen as well? the son is 15 years old. thank you..

Yes. Automatically upon the mom naturalizing, when she takes the oath of allegieance. She can go in with her naturalization cert, her son's green card, birth certificate and translation and apply for both of their passports at the same time.

Also since the child is under 16, she will need permission from the child's biological father, if listed on birth cert. Such as a notarized statement or a statement from the mother as to why the father can't sign. It says it on the instructions for when she goes to apply for the passport.
