Shooting at hospital near Philadelphia injures 3

Police believe there was a gunfire exchange between the doctor and suspect. According to Whelan, two guns were retrieved from the scene. The suspect did have psychiatric issues and was a patient, according Whelan. Whelan also says various employees wrestled suspect to the ground and a doctor and case worker helped apprehend the suspect.

Police continue to investigate. The motive remains unclear.

Yes and had it not been for the one that actually had a LEGAL gun, many more would have died.

It is the opposite. If everyone had guns then nobody would have been shot, ergo, the blame for this shooting falls squarely on the shoulders of those not carrying guns at the time of the shooting.

A Pennsylvania doctor saved his own life, and possibly the lives of several others Thursday, when he shot a gunman who was on a rampage in his office at Mercy Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania.

Employees aren’t supposed to have firearms or other weapons at the hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman, but thankfully this doctor wasn’t complying. The Daily Mail reports:

Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that ‘without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives.’

‘When the caseworker was shot, (Silverman) crouched down behind the desk to avoid him being shot,’ Whelan said.

‘He was able to reach for his weapon, and realizing it was a life or death situation, was able to engage the defendant in the exchange of gunfire.’

The lesson here? Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns. Gun-free zones are simply a target rich environment for those with evil intent.

Lawless hell hole describes large parts of America. This is what is so different about this country compared to other 'developed' nations.

I like to think of the United States as a bunch of first world (developed) nations with third world (developing) nations in between. If America were a slice of banana nut bread, the first world nations would be the nuts and the third world lawless holes would be the bread.

Exactly. It's the legal gun owners who obey the law that are the real problem here. When someone with an illegal gun kills an innocent person, we must respect the righs of the murderer and punish law abiding gun owners. It is unfair to put murderers in a negative light.
