K-2 Visa Payment Issue in RIO Embassy

Hi All,

I went back again to RIO to accompany my step children for their K-2 Visa interview. After going through steps and process, interview and getting approved for the visa, I asked the person performing the interview about the VISA payment. She advised us that we don't need to pay it now because they will send us instructions on how to pay for the visa online. I asked the lady twice to make sure and she assured me that its not an issue and it can be paid via online when I get the documents via mail.

Well to my surprise, my wife's sister in Brasil received a call from RIO Consulate advising us that the visa won't be issued because we failed to pay for the visa fee. She also ask why we didn't pay it at the time of the interview. My sister inlaw told her that we were advised to pay it online. Apparently this is not the case. Now they want us to return to the consulate and pay the visa in person.

Has anyone ever encounter this issue? This puts a financial burden on us if we have to return back to RIO to pay for the VISA. Is there anyway I can pay for the VISA here in the USA or online?

Sorry I'm not versed with the process in posting questions here. But what does this mean that it was moved?

It just means they relocated your post to a different subforum because it was about a specific embassy and not the overall process

Unfortunately, I have no answer for you.. You can try emailing the embassy (immigrationrio@state.gov)

This embassy seems to have a lot of incompetence.. We are struggling with them now too..
