RFE translation of birth certificate

I sent my birth certificate and translated it on my own, also included a piece of paper saying I'm fluent in both languages but apparently that's not good enough.

What should I do now? I don't wanna pay for someone to translate something I can easily do on my own...
Does anyone have any sample letters to include with the birth certificate translation?

As usual, any advice is appreciated.

(If anyone is interested, this is the letter I sent with my AOS application:

To whomever it may concern,

I, MY FULL NAME, certify that I am fluent in the English and Italian languages, and that the attached document is an accurate translation of my birth certificate.

SIGNATURE

and on a separate paper I translated the main text of my birth certificate)

The certification needs to be on the document itself, not on a scrap of paper. Furthermore, you need to translate the ENTIRE document, not just what you think is the "main text." The translated document needs to mirror exactly the document in the foreign language. People can translate their own things, but if it looks suspicious or unprofessional then it is not good.

Since you only get one chance to respond to a RFE, and they can deny you if your response is not adequate, then I would pay someone to do a professional translation for you. Should be able to get it for like $25.

Great, so if I translate the whole document myself and try to re-submit it they'll just straight deny everything?!?!

So I just send that? I do have a copy of it and it's in French and Italian with small numbers with translation of different languages on the bottom.

Here is a place with 24-hour turnaround and $27/page. http://www.rev.com/certified-translation/italian

What you want in a service is for you to email the document, then they will do it today, then mail you back the certified and notarized translation in the mail.

Not hard to find many of them on google.

Yes, if the translation is not sufficient, then they can deny the whole case. Which is why, after one failure, I would just pay a small fee to get a guaranteed accepted one. Good luck.

Good luck.

I used the same translation service as state above. They are great. They are the cheapest i found and always a 24 hour turnaround. Usually quicker. I sent them a picture of the document (no scanner handy) and they sent it back with two pages 1.) the certified letter stating their ability to do so 2.) the full translated copy.

Have you used it before? Would it be ok if I only pay 27$ for the 'e-mail only option' or am I better off spending 47$ to also get a 'e-mail, notarized and mailed copy'.

I really don't want to screw this up. I hope the e-mail option and me printing it out will suffice...

I don't know how accurate or official this site is...

http://www.***removed***/immigration/document-english-translation.html

But on this page, at the very bottom, it says,

"if the document is being submitted in the U.S. (for example, to USCIS), the translation does not have to be notarized.

If the document is being submitted outside the U.S. (for example, to the Embassy or Consulate), it must be notarized."

That said, this page also says,

"...please note that the petitioner or the beneficiary can not translate the documents".

So OP, to be proper, I think you should get it professionally translated and notarized.

See my post above.

My fiancee in China got all documents professionally translated and notarized.

Both service was provided by the same company for us.
