I found a member of the moderating team who found an ingenious method to circumvent the word filter. I assume this has the blessings of Site Admin seeing how it's being done by a member of the moderating team.

Because you've brought it up, I've changed my signature. HOWEVER, I am an organizer, not a moderator. I simply move threads to appropriate locations and remove excess threads without posts. Nothing more. Simply keeps a clean, organized environment for those who use more than just the "current events" forum. I'm quite unsure why a DIY immigration help website even needs such a forum, but I assume it's a place to give others to relax and stop thinking about the immigration journey. Rather like the Off Topic forum, but just one I prefer never to visit. To each their own. I have can the ability to choose what content I read on the forums. Also since everyone can turn off their signatures, I would assume anyone actually offended by my signature would do so, thus allowing people the right to choose.

FYI: I was not purposely trying to get around the filter, merely used a jpeg that I found amusing.

It's possible, but that's not why the filter is in place. It's because certain words get VJ classed as an adult site by Google. That affects search engine rankings and affiliate marketing income.

The same thing. Googles search algorithm can to a limited degree read the content of an image.

Well, VJ ads just told me that Asian women are looking for senior US men, aged 35-70, so I think the filtering has been a resounding success.

The words would be filtered unless purposely turned off and you must be signed into the site in order to turn off the filter. You can even limit the filter to certain portions of the website. I've been a part of websites that have a content hidden adult only section that requires registered members to post XX number of times and apply to have the ability in which to even post in the adult only section.

I know it's possible to do that, I'm just saying it won't be because offending people's eyes with dirty words isn't the reason the filter is in place.

You can suggest it as an idea but the admin won't implement it because it's not in his interest to do so.

Apparently, 'trying to get around the language filter' is a TOS violation.

Interestingly, the TOS says nothing about the language filter determining what is or is not acceptable content. Presumably it's all covered under the one liner about 'obscene' content but that seems somewhat insufficient as Ewok has just said that the language filter is automated. Why is that a guide on anything?
