Important Notice: The Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with our visa system. We are operating at a significantly reduced capacity and will be until we clear the document backlog. This issue is worldwide and is not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. We are working urgently to correct the problem and expect our system to be fully operational again soon. We will be posting updates to travel.state.gov as more information becomes available.

this notice was from NVC website

Anyone knows anything about this situation?

My AOS fee was updated to Paid this Tuesday and I dont know if that means my case is safe?

I hope this does not cause any severe delay !!

~~moved to US immigration news from IR1/CR1 process and procedures where other similar posts are located~~

As far as I understand it's the DOS system that's mucked, the one that prints the visas.

This just got posted on the U.S. DOS facebook page just FYI: ( https://www.facebook.com/travelgov?sk=wall )

"As of July 27, the Department of State has made continued progress on restoring our system to full functionality. As we restore our ability to print visas, we are prioritizing immigrant cases, including adoptions visas. System engineers are performing maintenance to address the problems we encountered. As system performance improves, we will continue to process visas at U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide. We are committed to resolving the problem as soon as possible. Additional updates will be posted to travel.state.gov as more information becomes available."

Hopefully things pick back up this coming week for all of us waiting for visas!!!!

Received this morning... It's been 7 weeks since my fiance's interview and now this..

"Dear Applicant,

The Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with our visa system which are affecting operations globally. We recognize that this may cause inconvenience to travelers, and apologize for the delay.

Although we have completed adjudication of your visa application, we are unable to take final action on the visa at this time. We hope to have our system fully operational again soon, but currently we do not have a timeline for when this may happen. If you have travel planned in the near future, we would suggest adjusting your travel arrangements accordingly.

Again, we recognize and regret the inconvenience this may cause. If you would like your passport returned to you (without the visa) please let us know and we will return it for later issuance.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter."

My awesome Anita had her interview today July 28th and was approved. We have plane tickets for a week from now. The woman at the consul said that it may take one to two weeks for the visa to arrive. This is about double the normal 3 to 5 days. We are hoping we don't have to change the plane tickets.

The woman at the consulate made no mention of the computer system delays? Interesting. I guess some countries are more backlogged than others...

She did by saying there were issues and it might take 2 weeks instead of the usual 3 to 5 days. The good news is she said to wait and see and not change the tickets just yet. Hopefully that means they are getting back on track.

I hope you guys don't have to reschedule but we will have to... sigh and pay fees. What sucks is we can't schedule a flight without knowing when this will be fixed.
